Yes, he’s been good here and there. I just wouldn’t want him at his salary and injury history if I was a GM looking to rebuild if I’m trading someone like Stanton. To me, that’s a big risk on someone who hasn’t been reliable since 2014. If he was younger or only had one recent season on the DL then I would be more open to it.

i'm ready to see Stanton in Dodger blue. Make this happen, Andrew.

I wouldn't mind, rather see him playing for a team who has a chance to win, than stuck in Miami, wasting his talent for a shite org.

These owners might be worse than Loria, at least he had cash to spend, these guys are broke and begging for investors. LOL

You are taking a chance on being able to move him by the deadline so you are banking on healthy. Plus BMac is a FA after the 2018 season anyway.... so a one year deal

I thought the last investor they brought in was supposed to be loaded? I guess not. I was surprised they quickly fired team ambassadors Perez and Dawson. I don’t get that at all.

This is what I feel makes the most sense as I think the Dodgers make the perfect fit for both parties.

Marlins send Giancarlo Stanton

Dodgers send Brandon McCarthy, Brock Stewart, Joc Pederson

I think the Dodgers should just suck it up for another year with the luxury tax and go win the championship. If it takes another low level prospect for the Marlins to take back McCarthy's contract, do it. Banners hang forever.

It'll be difficult to get under the luxury tax threshold with Gonzalez' contract anyways. Nut up and go win it.

Can't Kershaw opt out next year as well?

I would do that deal in a heartbeat if I was the Dodgers. Pederson is only a .222 hitter in 3 full seasons. I highly doubt the Marlins would agree to that though. Maybe sub out McCarthy for Puig.

He could and they'd likely give him more money annually as well. But, they can afford it with Gonzalez' contract coming off the books and they can move on from Puig and go with Verdugo in center and Taylor in right... or Toles etc. Trade Grandal etc.

Puig makes sense for me too... makes more sense than McCarthy for the Marlins. But I'm sure if the Dodgers are going to eat the majority of the contract, they would insist on it being BMac instead.

BMac is a FA after 2018
Kazmir is a FA
Forsythe is a FA
Ryu is a FA
Gonzales is a FA

just those are owed 63 million in 2018

All their young studs are cost controlled too. They should make it happen.

Take 1 more year of paying the tax, challenge for a WS then see what 2018 brings.... I'm sure the owners would gladly pay the tax if it earned them a WS

Sources: The Yankees recognize they’re in a position of significant strength right now. Same with Giancarlo Stanton, who can decide exactly where he wants to go and force a deal. And the Marlins ... well, the Marlins are trying to figure out how to best salvage an absolute mess.

Bravo Yankees. Shed Castro to clear space for Torres, only gave up one top 10 prospect from their system, got 53 million back, and landed Stanton. Bravo.
