Astros about to fall like the Cubs after a 3 year run.... Next year Altuve and Bregman will be hurt, Springer/Gurriel will slow down. Brantly will fall apart and Greinke/Verlander will show their age

The Yankees and Brett Gardner’s camp are indeed already talking about a deal to bring Gardner back to the Bronx, per a source. @JonHeyman was first on it. Seems like a natural fit, especially with Aaron Hicks recovering from Tommy John surgery.

I mean... It could happen. Cubs window shut faster than anyone expected considering Rizzo 26, Russell 22, Bryant 24, Fowler 30, Heyward 26, Baez 23, Conteras 24, Schwarber 23, Lester 32, Arrieta 30, Hendricks 26, Wood 29, Edwardd Jr 24, Rondon 28, Grimm 27

They really were a young team and had another shot but fell short and while they still have a playoff team not many have them as WS team

The New York Yankees are hiring Matt Blake as their new pitching coach, sources tell ESPN. Blake was previously a pitching coordinator with the Cleveland Indians, who continuously have churned out quality big league pitchers. He also has worked as an area scout for the Yankees.

Asros still have prospects to fill needs. Cubs have/had NONE, and were toast after their WS run. I called it then.

Luhnow can make some moves at meetings, he has talent to move or fill some needs.

Tucker and Whitley? Tucker who hasn't shown much? Whitney who no one knows anything? Cubs still had prospects in 2016, Happ, Jimenez, Almora, Cease, Vogelbach, etc....

Luhnow’s just not one of the guys. Never will be. And that’s OK, but if Crane wanted to make a difference, demoting Hinch would have been better for the organization than Reid.

I mean, how do you alienate Nolan Ryan? How is that good business?

Astros can’t help but act like Yankees when tasting a little success. Hinch’s arrogant arse doesn’t help matters either

Excellent post. Don’t forget that Correa will slip on a bar of soap in the shower and break his ankle and be out months.

4. Enrique Hernandez, Dodgers — He’s a jack-of-all-trades, but that includes being a pretty good center fielder. Hernandez is a free agent after 2020. The Dodgers were interested in Edwin Diaz in July and are looking for closer insurance (or more) for Kenley Jansen. Los Angeles runs the kind of organization that feels it can get the talent out of someone such as Diaz. The Mets would not do this straight up because they also feel like they can fix Diaz. But what if, say, a cost controlled starter such as Ross Stripling were added to Hernandez plus the Dodgers agreed to take on Lowrie’s $9 million for 2020 as the price of doing business?
hmmmmmm

i guess if they think they can fix diaz then fine but seems pretty dumb

While a penalty hasn’t been determined for the Yankees’ right-hander, German’s offenses don’t appear to be as egregious as those of Astros closer Roberto Osuna, who served a 75-game suspension last year, and they’re regarded as worse than Mets reliever Jeurys Familia, who sat out the first 15 games of the 2017 season. The fact that German spent the last nine games of the season plus the Yankees’ nine postseason contests on administrative leave upon discovery of the incident figure to be part of the negotiation between Major League Baseball and the Players Association for the final number.
