MLB is not the league that is dying. It's the NFL

We've been wrong all along.

A closer look at the NFL's ratings declines during the 2017 season. While there has been a sharp and sudden drop in NFL ratings, the league has been declining in the key demographics for the better part of a decade.

A look at how each NFL season has compared to the previous year in HH ratings, P2+ viewership, A18-34, A18-49, A25-54 and A50+. Take note of the gray bar -- that's A18-34, and its been down more than any other metric in 6 straight years.

Goodell's meddling and cord cutting is killing the NFL. His arrogance only helps solidify it.

It's oversaturated and it all happened on his watch. He'll go down as the guy that killed the golden goose.

Or maybe people are just tired of seeing the Patriots in the Super Bowl?

You have been wrong you mean?

I don't see anyone else around here consistently trumpeting the demise of MLB and the NHL.

Was watching meet the press on SB Sunday. Bryant Gumbel was a guest to discuss NFL declining TV ratings, etc...

Gumbel said the declining ratings are a combination of many factors with Trump being a small part of the reason. Gumbel said that the bigger problem the NFL has is there is a social movement against it. Movement against violence, etc... He said there are a number of projections about the declining popularity of the NFL and in 25 years it will no longer be socially acceptable to be a fan of the NFL.

That's a huge statement.

Watch the movie Concussion, your kid will never play football again. After seeing this, I can't argue with the safeguards being put in place by NFL and NCAA to make it safer and the equipment is safer as well.

Only those that want money over an extended life without medical issues will choose football

I don't think I'm gonna base life decisions on a movie.

Isn't college football doing better than in the past though?

Geezus, are you really going to put more stock in a Will Smith Oscar-bait film than actual digging a little deeper. You've bought the media narrative hook, line, and sinker.

No denying that football can be dangerous, but did you know that girls soccer has highest rate of concussions per capita compared to any other sport.

USA women's soccer is easily the most Prominnet female sporting team in the world... But where is the hysteria on concussions on this and the Chris Nowitzki's of the world collecting brains of ex women soccer stars?

It doesn't exist....and probably never will.

rating may be town, but they are selling the hell out of right to stream their games online. I watched most of the Saints' games this season on my computer not cable.
