remember when the punishments were just going to be a slap on the wrist because this shite was done by a couple of rogue employees at a sleep over?

I think its a fair punishment. It sucks as a Cards fan but they deserved to be punished.

Not if you followed along as to why and how this happened.

You cant penalize the Cardinals TOO much, when it was just 1 guy doing it on his own as retaliation for a personal matter.

This was the right penalty. Now we can move on.

Those 2 picks carry with them $1,853,200 in bonus pool allotment. Cards left with little over $2M for entire draft, no picks in 1st 3 rounds

If I was being homerish I would have said they deserved nothing.

I have a feeling people would have said the punishment wasn't enough regardless of what was handed down. It's a pretty steep punishment.

News dump during Super Bowl week. This will be a story for half of a day.

If anything this was the ending to the story, regardless.

I won't pretend to know what the right punishment is. This one is definitely more than a slap on the wrist.

Correa accessed the Astros network at least 48 times and had multiple instances of failed logins across about 10 different user IDs. That's significant.

Also, in the unsealed court documents it was detailed that he did not inform his superiors of where he was getting information, which is what allowed this punishment to not be worse than it is.

From what I understand, the Cardinals are just moving forward with it and not contesting anything.

The timing is more related to finally having certain court documents unsealed last week than anything external. MLB didn't want to punish then have to come back and punish again based on unsealed testimony, so they waited until they had everything.

Seems they also didn't want to drag one of their premier franchises through the mud for 2 yrs like NFL did. Not good for a league.

I've said before that this should have been the biggest cheating scandal in sports since the black Sox. It not only involves corporate espionage(a major felony), but it actually does gain a massive advantage for the stealing party. You're virtually seeing the other teams hand.

Deflategate, the biggest media shitstorm in sports over the last decade, was essentially a small equipment violation which was never even substantially proved.

The Cardinals scandal doesn't even have a catchy little name or anything even though it was and is an actual crime and people will go to federal prison for years.... It was barely sniffed by the press and people will hardly remember this incident in 10 yrs....simply amazing.
