Padres have to be fully in on Soto now. You don't make that Hader move if you aren't going completely all in.

Are the Brewers going to blow everything up and rebuild? If so, does that mean Yelich will be possibly moving as well?

They are in first. They probably felt like they werent going to resign him so they are trying to hedge their bets for future seasons

Yelich is under contract until 2028 at least with a pretty significant value that exceeds his recent performance. He isn't going anywhere.

Hader only has one more year of control and had fallen off a cliff lately. They also have Williams behind him so were trading from a relative position of strength.

Okay, it just seemed odd for them to trade a closer of that quality to a team they could face in the playoffs potentially. I have not looked at standings all summer, so excuse me for not knowing their place.

The timing isn’t great but its refreshing to see a team embrace who they are. They aren’t going to outbid anyone for Hader so might as well get a good return now. If more small and mid market teams would manage themselves for what they are they would be competitive more often.

A very Rays-like move by the Brewers

So in essence, the Brewers are taking a NBA approach to the Hader trade, get something because you know you wont be able to sign him next time.
