Yes it's awful, horrible, disgusting, and vile lynchings happened, but to say a hangman's noose is purely about one race is ignorant.

He's the HC of one of the flagship universities in Mississippi. A state that's nearly 40% black and in a sport that is 80% black males. He should probably know his audience in this situation. Lane Kiffin was already a better recruiter than them from the jump (with a better staff). Leach just made that gap larger with this tweet.

Then again, Miss st making leach apologize like they didn’t know this is exactly what they hired is pretty comical.

Except the meme is about a wife that’s sick of being cooped up at home with her husband. There’s only racial connotations there if that’s what you want to see

People from the South say racism is overblown and that history is overblown.

But then they say, woah, can't say this.

I doubt Leach would've even connected the dots. Probably never crossed his mind that people in the South would assume he was talking about lynching black people.

Because he wasn't. But the South just goes there automatically.

Nobody in any other part of the country thought Leach was talking about lynching black people.

Or even lynching.

The post looks like suicide by hanging. He's talking about cabin fever and suicide. Only the South could make it racial.

Well, the weak minded are going to be weak minded.

Some just can't or won't stop living in the past.

It was harmless and the mental midgets who got upset are just moronic, it's just that simple.

His very own players are looking at him with a skeptical eye after this tweet.

quote:

Senior linebacker Erroll Thompson, who was a captain on last year’s team, retweeted the original with a hand-on-the-chin, eyebrow-raised thinking emoji. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Fabien Lovett responded to the tweet with “Wtf.” Senior defensive end Kobe Jones responded to Lovett with “Facts. He tripping.” with a hand-on-the-face ashamed emoji.

Those players are seeing what they want to see and are reacting out of emotion. Doesn’t make their feelings right or accurate

They should start issuing memos of what can never be said again. It’s hard to keep up.

Mississippi State player who was critical of Mike Leach tweet announces he's transferring

He did not say if the decision to enter the transfer portal was because of the controversial tweet. He did, however, retweet someone who wrote "Good for Fabien! This being the 21century, one would expect to know what is offensive. I hope more players leave MSU and not just football. Leach's apology is not enough." He also retweeted Shannon Sharpe's critical comments about Leach's tweet.

Is it possible it’s less racist and more terribly insensitive regarding the current pandemic?

Either way, Leach is stupid as frick

It's just a joke, people are stupid. Maybe leach should have thought about the fact that stupid people would be seeing his joke though.

Not sure why it would be insensitive, it's not making fun of people with corona.

we need a proclamation from Jesse Jackson to determine whether a noose in any context is racist or not

hell we need a whole handbook of what is and isn’t acceptable according to twitter

No wonder Miss State sucks. Nobody of value would ever subscribe to this kindve race baiting nonsense. Not a single reference to race anywhere in that tweet. The outrage isn’t just spin it’s completely fabricated.
