On one hand im disappointed because it was pretty obviously an innocuous husband/wife ball-and-chain joke. At the same time given the times we’re in plus where he’s coaching now, Pirate should’ve known better

You can't just erase hundreds of years of slavery by calling it shitty stuff that happened to everyone.
I wonder how forgiving some of you guys would be if you were enslaved today and knew your children for generations would be enslaved, raped and mistreated.
I'm sure your future generations would be super cool with reminders of that past and would totally let things go easily even while still being hated and barely tolerated.

Except this meme has nothing to do with slavery.
No one crying on Twitter was a slave or even knew a slave. Some people have this fantasy that blacks are still oppressed and therefore they view everything through that lens. It’s the old saying, “when you’re a hammer everything is a nail.” No one is actually being oppressed nowadays. We just had a two term black president with a Muslim sounding name. Don’t cry about a fricking meme that has nothing to do with you.

You know, death by hanging is still an option as capital punishment in two states, and was the most prolific method of capital punishment in our countries history. Yes it's awful, horrible, disgusting, and vile lynchings happened, but to say a hangman's noose is purely about one race is ignorant.
