I know the board mostly sides with the players but something needs to be done about players under contract asking for trade requests because they want more money.
You signed the contract and agreed to the terms.
Seems like Parsons used to agree....

MP trade value won’t be as high as people think. The guy wants 45M and teams are ok with that but Dallas isn’t getting the haul they think they’re getting. Different story if he still had 2/3 years left on rookie deal
If he had 2-3 years left on a rookie deal his value would be so high than no team would ever pay the premium because it would be so steep

He's trying to manipulate the fanbase to put pressure on the front office to cave. He's already under contract for this year and Dallas isn't winning shite until they get out of Dak's deal, 2028 at the earliest. They should threaten to tag him for 26-28 seasons and bench him 4 straight years, destroying his eventual FA value and helping the tank in the process.

Until the money is guaranteed, no problem with players wanting more money
Exactly. The contracts are one-sided. The player can get cut whenever. Is it the fault of the NFLPA agreeing to a crappy CBA? Yes. Is that Parsons' fault? No.
Micah can do what Jalen Ramesy has done multiple times: claim he has a sore hamstring while angling for a new contract. Micah might be under contract, but if he doesn't play because of his hamstring or back, then the team is going to lose games.

It’s all negotiated. As a fan, I’m very glad the contracts aren’t fully guaranteed.
In the NFL, they are guaranteed to the degree that is appropriate per player.
Contracts are negotiated and agreed to with that in mind.

It’s “negotiated” in the sense that the players can never hold out to demand guaranteed contracts. Not when you have 1700 players and the vast majority have a 2 year window to make any money at all.

Or how it helps a teams current salary cap

I don’t want guaranteed contracts. Just think about how a contract like Albert Hayneseorth would have crippled Washington for years. Or if one of these guys gets injured and stays on the books forever. Not to mention the problems it would create for small market teams that have to overpay for free agents. You’d have all the same problems the NBA does now.

It's negotiated individually within a larger collective bargaining negotiation that sets cap limits, floors, revenue share, etc.

Yes. The salary cap structure and the rules that govern it are part of the picture which encourage the use of guaranteed money for high performing players.
It's better for the game/fans than all guaranteed contracts. Zero guaranteed money would be best for the game/fans but it is what it is.

I think we can all agree that paying earlier can help a team out with future salary years.
What’s interesting is that it seems like several teams are starting to stand up to the player demands. McLaurin, Parsons & Hendrickson. And Metcalf got traded because he wanted more money.

I don’t think it would change much, as long as the hard salary cap remained.
You’d still only have the best of the best getting big money. But you’d also have the league minimum journeyman with guaranteed money.
Don’t sign big, fat, dumb Albert Haynesworth

I always chuckle at the bleeding hearts who demand "fairness" without realizing how what they demand harms the game with which they are a fan.

My issue isn’t whether the nfl should or shouldn’t guarantee contracts, it’s the narrative for decades from owners that they can’t. They can, they don’t want to. And it’s under the guise of “health of the league” when it’s really about money.
It’s not healthy to have 17 and eventually 18 games or half the other shite they implement. It’s money, so just say that.
