Tucker...I can see why Colorado wouldn't match that MSU offer.

Well he didn't give them a chance to make a counter offer so we have no idea what they were going to be willing to give him.

Bottom line is he straight lied to a ton of people's faces. If he was happy and committed toCU he would have never still been negotiating behind their backs. If he had the integrity he claims to bring he would have been up front with them that he might leave instead of announcing he was staying and at the very minimum given CU a chance to counter before signing with MSU. He even convinced KD Nixon to stay at CU instead of going to the draft b/c he could improve the kid's draft standing. He did none of that.

He also accepted the MSU job a few hours after speaking at a CU booster function, and caving to a few recruits and unretiring numbers so the signees could wear them

People are not happy around CU. It is worse than Kiffin

This type of thing happens every year. Oh he convinced guys to come play for him and left? That’s happened with like 99% of coaching hires ever. He obviously didn’t think he was getting the job until he got an offer he couldn’t refuse. Do people seriously think this was his plan all along? Or that schools usually get a freaking negotiating window to counter offer when their coach gets poached? Was he supposed to turn down becoming fantastically wealthy to risk floundering in Boulder and never having this opportunity again as long as he lives?

Do people just not remember instances like Saban routinely lying through his teeth when leaving a job or Rich Rod going to UM and then trying to steal WV’s recruits immediately after accepting while still a WV employee and during a dead period?

I can’t help but think some of this media vitriol stems from subconscious racial bias against the now 2nd highest paid black coach in college or pro football...

Oh frick off with that bullshite. Plenty of white as frick cracker arse HCs have been slammed into the dirt for pulling bullshite like this. Petrino, Kiffin, Tuberville are all well known fairly recent examples. Even Dantonio was getting shite on for the way he up and quit at MSU.

I wonder what Michigan St. saw in him for one year that they just had to have him? Didn’t he have a losing record last year? And what a gut punch it is for Colorado losing a coach after just one year. Will Colorado ever get back what McCartney built up?

5.5 million for a person who was a mediocre head coach for the one year that he has been one is a lot.

I need to contact his agent.

Late to the thread but Tucker is an absolute POS for lying to CU about his “commitment “ to the program. I hope for CUs sake they can finally get someone who truly wants to rebuild. That will be hard because The academia in Boulder gives no shits for the football program. Hope ya fail mel

I don't think he lied about it. He probably really was committed to the program. Then Michigan State more than doubled his salary and more than doubled his assistant pool. No sane human being would turn down an offer like that.
