If he said this the other day he would be golden

"I had heard some things about coach smith. I knew it was reported to the cops, so I figured it was taken care of and all was well when no legal charges were brought against him. As a father to a daughter, I feel absolutely sick to my stomach I allowed this to happen in my prgoram and didnt see more to it"

or

" I really do not want to comment on this subject. Mrs. Smith is going through a terrible time and she deserves her privacy on this issue"

Lying about knowing was the only thing that could really get him fricked here, and he did it

From McMurphy's article:

quote:

“Zach once told me,” said Courtney,“if he ever got fired and this all comes out: ‘I’ll take everyone at Ohio State down with me.’

interesting take from Clay

quote:

1. There are massive Title IX issues at play here for both Urban and Shelley Meyer. Under the Ohio State employee handbook all employees would be obligated to report allegations of domestic assault by other employees. That’s especially the case for Urban Meyer, who is Smith’s superior, and for Shelley Meyer, who is also an Ohio State employee. As McMurphy reports: “Shelley Meyer is a registered nurse and instructor of Clinical Practice at the Ohio State University College of Nursing. She too is bound by Title IX standards.” That’s why I believe Ohio State will have to fire Urban Meyer before this story is finished. Leaving aside the morality of his decision making, he violated his obligations as an Ohio State employee, lied to his bosses, and has now been caught lying to his bosses about it.

the title ix discussion on to intensify.

Four game suspension

All jokes aside, is that a possibility?

Also,
quote:

Did he lie to his employers or did he lie to the media, and is there a difference legally?

I don't see how you could set a specific number of games for this. Three options imo:

- No suspension and try to ride out the storm

- Indefinite suspension pending investigation.

- Terminate/Resignation

He’s fricked, and should be. Lying to the media = lying to the public and NCAA which is not good

And I'm not "sticking up" for him, he's a morally reprehensible individual. But this is a complete non-story from a legal liability standpoint.

, Urban's legal liability is irrelevant. He doesn't have any legal obligation one way or the other, so the idea that the evidence is hearsay or not is irrelevant.

ETA - To be clear, "legal obligation" in a criminal sense.

Sounds unconstitutional

What portion of the Constitution do you think this offends?

It's a straightforward mandatory reporter provision. If you don't like it, don't work in the public sector.

The only issue is if it is applied to quell free speech or in a discriminatory fashion, and I'd pee my pants laughing if someone tried to claim not reporting DV allegations quells their freedom of speech. It's a blanket provision, so no discrimination.

What if he didn’t lie to his “bosses” and only lied to the media. That would make for an interesting twist

i am curious what he has told the ohio state ad before all of this. if he lied to him i could see that being a problem. will his boss swallow his pride and keep him if he was lied to?
