ESPN: McGregor says he's retiring

quote:

"Nobody is pressuring anybody to fight," White said. "And if Conor McGregor feels he wants to retire, you know my feelings about retirement -- you should absolutely do it. And I love Conor ... there's a handful of people that have made this really fun for me. And he's one of them."

quote:

White said "the amount of people that I have gunning at me right now is insane," referring to current UFC beefs with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and star Jorge Masvidal.

"If that's what Conor is feeling right now -- Jon Jones, Jorge Masvidal, I feel you," White said. "It's not like I'm going, 'Holy s---, this is crazy, this is nuts.' Nothing is crazy and nuts right now, because everything is crazy and nuts right now, on a certain level. I totally understand it and get it."

Once again, Conor was a genius getting that Mayweather money while he could.

Jon Jones says last week he wants out of UFC unless he can make D.Wilder money...

Jorge Masvidal says today he wants out of his UFC contract

McGregor announces retirement

Multiple other fighters are agitated and pissed.

These are all basically bluffs I figure, but This dissention in the ranks falls directly at the feet of Dana White.

He's the one who has said for weeks that fight matchups are coming. Then they're never announced,

Connor said he wanted to fight multiple times this year and he's not been given any kind of schedule one way or another. Hell, They haven't even set the Khabib Gaethje fight yet officially.

The 155 and 170 lb divisions are absolutely loaded and no real fights have been scheduled. There's 4 or 5 big name fighters in each division and numerous big money fights that should be already announced, and nothing. The heavyweight division has some potentially huge fights, and nothing.

If he's waiting for arenas to hold crowds again and make that huge gate, it ain't happening...unless he holds the events outdoors in a place like Texas, or a state has the sense enough to just reopen everything at full force again right now.

These guys are looking at the money and freedom boxers get and they are pissed. They're ring attire sponsors were taken from them so UFC itself could get richer, but totally screwed the fighters out of lots of income. These guys aren't getting any younger and they want to fight and they can't do it.

If Bellator had some real money behind it and could strike a very fighter friendly deal, they could be there to swoop up many disgruntled UFC fighters if they offered huge money deals. White has led the fighters on for too long without delivering.

Even big name guys like Tony Ferguson only make 500k per fight. That's ridiculous when guys who can't even box like Wilder and guys like Joshua who ducks everyone can make $30-50 million per fight.

What’s pathetic is that he did it after an event trying to steal attention away from the fighters.

Anyone who values money above everything doesn’t have integrity. You can’t trust their words. Calling khabib dad a rat, then sending him get well message. So what are you villain or nice guy? Retires, unretires, retires, unretires, retires. Which is it?

A large amount of that money went to “fight island” plus the new parent company of the UFC has made cuts.

These fighters need to be pissed at their new owners not at Dana White. If anything he’s been the one doing everything he can

Some of these guys don’t deserve bigger paydays because they aren’t big draws. Nobody buying a Cejudo headliner. Even Jon Jones isn’t a big draw. Ufc isn’t gonna throw a ton of money at someone if they aren’t gonna make that money back, especially now when they are losing all gate money.

Like Dana said, he invited Jon in to look at the numbers but Jon refused. So Jon can keep sitting at home and turning down fights and make no money. Or they can turn into boxing and suck like boxing does. Nobody is getting released so they don’t even have to ask.

Also just saw where Dana said both Jones and masvidal just signed new deals months ago.

Well, after he sucker punched the old dude at the bar who didn't want to drink his rot-gut whisky and couldn't knock the guy off his stool, I guess he saw the writing on the wall.

Conor lost his fire once he got the Mayweather payday, and UFC has made a lot of stars through the years. I wouldn't be worried if I was Dana.

A fighter retired?

That’s just what they call the time between their last fight and their next one.

You telling me the mma world wouldn't be excited for a Conor/Masvidal or Conor/Gaethje fight?

Guys like Usman and Covington are just too big for Conor. He would get pummeled.

Nobody wants to see another Conor v. Khabib.. The results will be the same.

I want to see fists flying, not Conor against the cage trying to stop a takedown.
