You try so hard in Falcons-turned-Saints threads.

What makes you think this? Until he had Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzales, he's been pretty damn un-impressive. You give that WR group to just about anyone and they're at least making the playoffs.

Just playing the "heel" role.

Sidenote: When Football actually starts up I'll cool on the thread baiting. Honestly.

He did have Roddy White in his first year with the Falcons in which they did go to the playoffs without Jones and Gonzales.

His numbers were not phenomenal, but he has only gotten better.

Unfortunately for Matt Ryan, he is surrounded by a bunch of arse clowns who would rather win on twitter and score high on Sportscenter Top 10 than win a championship....and Mike Smith.

which they did go to the playoffs

They went to the playoffs, they did not win in the playoffs. And that's what I mean. It wasn't until they added Julio Jones, one of if not the best young WR in the league, and one of the best of all time TE's in Tony Gonzales to actually win a game in the playoffs. IMO, Ryan is what's holding that team back, not leading them further.

lol so the fact that he lost in the playoffs his rookie year means he is holding the team back? The Green Bay game you may have an argument but I would counter with ATL had a first rd bye and GB was just a better team that year. The NYG debacle is probably your best argument but I consider that more a game plan issue, Ryan did play like shite regardless.

He played well enough last year in the playoffs.

He has been to the playoffs 4 times where he lost as a rookie, lost to the eventual SB champs but did well enough to secure a 1st rd bye, got destroyed by the SB champs and played like shite, and then won a game and was 10 yards from going to the super bowl. I wouldn't consider that good by any means but certainly not "holding us back".

I don't know about that. He sure did everything he could against the Seahawks to try and give that game away. And they should have lost that game. Again, he played well against the 49ers, then just melted down the stretch.

Thats Atlanta's whole deal and how every game goes. They light up the scoreboard the first half, Ryan makes a costly mistake or two in the 3rd/4thQ and lets the opposing team either tie it up or take a small lead. Finals mins he drives them just inside Matt Bryants FG range and they win by 3 or less points. Obviously a win is a win....but not all wins are created equally. And its always bit them in the arse when they couldn't respond in the playoffs.

Yeah and they were also a FG away from being one and done in a game they should have lost.

what's your point? Football is a game of inches. Had that DEN safety not gone full retard BAL doesn't win the superbowl...

eta so many things have to happen for you to win in the post season, very rarely do you just destroy everyone else and not get any luck along the way. If you are going to discredit Ryan for the SEA win then you have a whole bunch of other people and teams you need to not give any credit either.

Well what was your point then? You made the same type of argument just from the other side.

All I'm saying is, I think people need to stop giving him more credit than he's worth. I mean how contrived of a nick-name is Matty Ice? The media needs to quit touting him and look at all the weapons that have elevated him over the last couple of years. You guys are a legit QB away from getting to the next level.

I guess that was the wrong choice of words. But I'll say this, I don't think he did more than some other more average QB's couldn't do with that group of offensive weapons.
I'd be willing to bet that Andrew Luck gets the Falcons as far as Matt Ryan did last year. I'd bet someone like Kyle Orton/Tony Romo could as well.
