The NFL now has a $30 million a year quarterback. And it’s not Aaron Rodgers. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Falcons have agreed to a new five-year extension with quarterback Matt Ryan, which hits a new benchmark for annual average, and includes $100 million guaranteed. That surpasses the three-year, $84 million deal (all guaranteed) Kirk Cousins just got from the Vikings, but will be surpassed again when the Packers eventually pay their quarterback. Ryan was entering the final year of his contract, and the lack of an extension kept them from doing much in free agency earlier this offseason.

A-Rod gaming the free agent system perfectly, then again wouldn't expect anything less from the BEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL-TIME

Rodgers should get $35 mil per especially since its not like Green Bay puts anyone else around him that they have to pay

They should've given him a 3 year 28 mil per season extension.

That's a lot of money to give up 25 point leads.

So they give $150 million contract to a QB who last season, threw for his lowest completion % since 2011, least yards since 2010, and the fewest TDs since his rookie season?

Not to mention, he'll be 33 in 2 weeks. Talk about timing. I can only imagine how much he must have wanted after his career season in 2016.

That’s a lot of dough for check downs to the RB’s and TE’s.
