I'd take Kaepernick for the future. Better arm, and great wheels, also strong as hell. It is a lot to gameplan around.
If it's one game this weekend I may take Ryan though. I think he's really out to prove something, just not sure he has enough to do it.

Atlanta seems destined for Super Bowl this year with the way they've won some games this year including last week.
As good a game as Kaep had last week, I think he comes back down to earth this week.

I think most would say Ryan's stats over that 9-game stretch are not typical of his performance throughout his career. Specifically that TD/INT ratio.
Kaepernick's 9 game stretch is really the only 9 games you can pick, so we don't know really if he is really on a roll, if he's playing exactly how he should, or if this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I personally would rather have Ryan because his passing has noticeably improved every year of his career. This year specifically--at age-27--he's showing that potential to move into that elite "god tier." And his development closely follows the track that Brady/Brees, and to an extent manning went through.
Could Kaepernick be the real deal? Sure. Could Matt Ryan have met his ceiling? I suppose. But personally I think Kaepernick is closer to his ceiling than Ryan is to his. Kaep has looked sick, but we have seen scrambling qbs start out strong then fizzle out many times before.

defenses will begin to adjust and limit the read-option plays... for the next five years, I'd still take Matt Ryan. Kaepernick has a ceiling... just b/c we haven't seen it yet, doesn't mean he won't get there.

As a Falcons fan, I really hope we saw something close to Kaepernick's ceiling against Green Bay.

I would take Kap over Brees. Not sure I'd take him over Ryan though.

I'm actually torn here from what I've seen from Kaep lately mainly bc of his running dynamic
That being said, this weekend, Matt Ryan at home > Colin Kaepernick on the road

Matt Ryan. Kaepernick could have the better game, but Ryan is the better QB.

Trick question. I'll take Romo.

Question was intended to be irrespective of teammates, but I'd never restrict input in any thread.

0h, you were serious. Keapernick.

Well it said regardless of opponent. Kaep + Julio +white +Gonzales scares me more than they would with Ryan

quote:Probably, but it's not like the Niners run an equivalent of the Wildcat where it's one look all the time. They run everything. The diversity of the attack now that they have a weapon under center is what made the read-option as potent as it was Saturday night, not the gimmicky nature of it. Davis, Walker, and anyone in the backfield would love for teams to put a spy on Kaepernick.

This new nucleus of Wilson/Griffin/Kaepernick-esque players aren't gimmicks. They're succeeding in a multitude of looks and doing multiple things. Steve Young finally has worthy heirs.

Ryan. Kaep is hot right now, and his style of play is exciting...but I don't want my QB taking a lot of hits.

I hope you weren't expecting a lot of intellectual answers to this. You could ask who would you rather right now? Johnny U or Matt Ryan and people would still take Johnny U.

And years less left of his career
I wouldn't be so quick to say that since Kaep is a running QB
And it's also possible that he isn't going to be a special player in a few years once he loses a step
