I'm going to be at the Masters on Tuesday. It says 80% chance of rain in Augusta on Tuesday.

Has anyone been before and know what implications this has? Hoping the rain doesn't stop players from practicing or the round doesn't get canceled all together. Will still be fun to walk the course regardless.

Any other tips for being there?

It says no phones inside the gates on the tickets. Is this strictly enforced?

Thanks for any help

If it's a light rain, you will probably see players on the range and the course. If it's a heavy rain and play is washed out you will have to ask what the policy is. If it says no phones, I would adhere to it. That would get you an immediate exit if discovered. There's a thread on the 2nd page titled tips to the Masters. It has a lot of good info.

There havent been many complete rainouts for masters practice rounds in the past. But their tickets and website state that no refunds or other arrangements will be provided if there is a rainout. However, last year on Monday, the course was closed around 10am. They ended up allowing everyone with Monday tickets to purchase more tickets for this years Monday round.

Yes.

All of the rules at the National are strictly enforced.

I took a phone in on a practice round a few years ago. They must've changed that.

Edit:

I took a camera in, not a phone.

Correct. If Tuesday is completely rained out they will not make up the practice round but will offer a chance to purchase tickets for next year.

A rainout during tournament play can cause the Tournament to end on Monday. This happened a few years ago IIRC.

Cameras allowed during practice rounds, not during tournament.

Cellphones never allowed.

Although I did see Fred Couples checking his phone on #1 tee today.

I know that it is 75MPH then once you hit Augusta it drops to 50. They know that you are coming and waiting for you. Trust me I know if you know what I mean?

No phones allowed.

It's weird not having your phone. We lost my dad last year and it was pouring. Sucked.

Can't wait to be out there tomorrow morning

I went last year on Monday. Got tickets in drawing they do each year. Monday we had roughly 4 hours on course before the storm hit. (Maybe 10-15 golfers actually on course) They cancelled entire round that day when rain hit. They did give refund for tickets and offer tickets to practice round this year.

No phones allowed. But had camera.

I haven't been to a practice round but went for the Thursday and Friday rounds in 2011. Dude sitting next to us on the ropeline on 16 somehow snuck a cell phone in and it did not end well for him. But I agree with earlier poster - it is weird not having your phone all day

Monday rained out last year after around 2 hours and they reissued tickets to everyone that had tickets for that day to this year.

I wouldn't bother bringing a phone to avoid the possibility of walking back to the car to put it up if caught. They have phones all over the place you can make free calls from.

There was a guy in our group in 2013 that got caught with a phone. He was taken to the security tent and was asked to never come back. I guess he can't apply for tickets on the masters website.

I have a friend that caddied on the tour for several years. In fact when we went to the masters practice round about 8 years ago, that was the first time that he'd seen the course from outside the ropes. He told us the story of a pga player that was playing a round either before Masters week or after can't recall - anyway said player was on the the phone at lunch and was asked to kindly put the phone away.
