The passing yards record is almost a bad mark on the team because it indicates a one-dimensional offense constantly playing in close games or coming from behind.

Not sure if someone pointed this out, but I didn't read all of the pages.

2011 New Orleans Saints (Brees record setting season)
13-3
6th in NFL in rushing

2013 Denver Broncos (Manning record setting season)
13-3
15th in NFL in rushing

Not trying to be a dick, but check the facts before making an assumption like that, discounting two unbelievable seasons from those two.

He cares so little about it that he only stayed in the game until he broke the mark. God Peyton is such a dick. TDs are more important? I guess playoff wins are too then

9-11 8 "1 & done" performances from the GOAT

It just eats his arse that he is going down with 1 title that his team won despite him.

Are you aware that the Broncos had to win this game to get the number 1 seed? If they lost and the Pats won, the Broncos would be the #2 seed. So he stayed in the game to win. They were up 31-0 at halftime and it was clear that Oakland would not even remotely be a threat, so the coach decided to start benching starters starting with the opening drive of the 2nd half. You need to check your facts before making this assumption.

Manning and Brees currently have the same number of Super Bowls.

Yet Manning only winning one is an atrocity?

Brees teams since 2006 failed to make it to the playoffs 2 times. Eliminated in the a Wild Card game and a Divisional game, and a conference championship game. I don't care to look it up, but it seems that Mannings playoff record is worse by virtue of making more playoff appearances.

Brees stats in the 3 games to win the super bowl, are in the bottom four of his passing performances in the playoffs.

But please, go on about how Brees is a better QB than Manning. They're both elite HOF QBs, but Manning is the better QB.

Also, another note that just stuck out to, how many road playoff wins does Brees have?

I don't think anyone is seriously debating that. Not even Saints fans are that delusional.

I am. I'm also aware that athletes know where they are with records. Had he been short a yard he would've come in for the third...you're fooling yourself if you think otherwise

Nothing wrong with it either

I guess so. None of the Saints fans I know, which is every single friend and family member, thinks this. They all respect Peyton a great deal and considered him the GOAT. But then again, my friends and family are all intelligent people.

Exactly. This "record" will be broken repeatedly in my lifetime with today's rules.

It is now a given that you know very little about the situation.

Peyton Manning stayed in the game to secure a victory and make sure the team stayed hot going into the playoffs. His touchdown pass right before halftime, which was also the record setting pass, gave them a 31-0 lead, and he did not enter the game anytime after that. It just so happened that the pass gave him the record by one yard.

FWIW I think Brees is underrated. I consider him the second best QB of his era (over Brady). Maybe 3rd if we count Rodgers as the same era

I can't help you if you think he wouldn't have come back in to set the record. He would have and should have if he didn't get it with that pass

24-0 against the raiders, Denver didn't need another TD to secure it.

Again, I have no problem with record chasing. Manning should've tried to throw for 60. It's irksome that he pretended he didn't care about the mark which is complete horseshite

this record is kinda a big deal.

It's the NFL equivalent of the HR record.

I could care less if he would have or not.

Little do you know, after Peyton Manning set the record, he didn't celebrate one bit. He was casual, like after every touchdown pass, and walked to the sideline with his teammates. He then sat on the bench and immediately started looking at the pictures of film he always looks at. It was nothing like when Drew Brees broke the record.

If you've watched the Denver Broncos defense this year, yes, Denver did need to score again. He also stayed in the entire first half to stay sharp with the rest of the team because we knew we would gain a first round bye with a win, and the coaches didn't want the starters to potentially be out of game action for more than 6 quarters.

He stated it before, he stated it after. He has no reason to lie.

Meh, I think it's a cool record to have but it's not as significant as the passing TDs
