Being the GM of the Lakers has to be the easiest job in Basketball. Very easy to make trades and get free agents when most of the players already want to go there in the first place.

This used to not be the case in recent history

It’s not all about big markets. NYC is the biggest market and the Knicks have been terrible for years.
Being in a big market helps but the biggest thing is that the Lakers have a well run franchise
The Lakers struck out in free agency consistently for for over 2 decades between 1996 & 2018 . Knicks ,Clippers ,Nets ,Bulls , Sixers, Celtics ,Warriors , were all laughingstocks as well in free agency.
The Big markets getting most of the top free agent talent was a massive myth for decades. Only in the past several years has it become somewhat true.

Lakers tried to rebuild like small market teams do and it was a complete disaster. So they use their location and media market to sign LeBron and then tamper and get another superstar. Small market teams don’t have that option when a rebuild isn’t going well.
What the Lakers did was not impressive. It wasn’t impressive GM management. It wasn’t impressive cap manipulation. It wasn’t great scouting. They won, congrats, just don’t expect everyone to be impressed with they way they went about it.
It’s like the Yankees signing Trevor Bauer this offseason, winning the World Series in 2021 and expecting everyone to be impressed

On the one hand, this isn’t some model of amazing team building. Lebron wants to live in LA for obvious reasons, and AD/Klutch/Lebron basically sandbagged his trade value in a very public way to anyone but Los Angeles.
Most teams don’t have the option to build a champion that way. There’s just no denying that, IMO.
On the other hand, getting the best players and winning by any means available is the whole point, so they did what they needed to do to get the goal accomplished.
Golden State did it, the Heatles did it, Boston did it, and now the Lakers have done it again.
I’ll always love the Spurs and Pistons and early 2000s Lakers and 2011 Mavs models more, but there’s nothing wrong with putting the best roster possible on the court. Hell, that’s kinda the whole point
But yeah, to say this Lakers championship teambuilding methodology Is available to every one is just not true.

Zion isn't a bitch like Davis
The way he smiles at lebron is weird
The time he pointed to lebron's hair falling out was sad. He was so happy to tell him, he looked like a 10 year old
