Trae Young is averaging 26 pts and 9 assists this year so it wasn’t that much of a terrible trade

If you asked the mavs whether they’d trade him for trae young and cam reddish they’d laugh and hang up. Stack that on them trading 8/17/35 and 2 future 2nds for hunter and Solomon hill and you’ve got organizational malfeasance

8 Ended up being Jaxson Hayes, 17 was Alexander Walker, and 35 was a draft and stash. Hunter is better than all of those players right now

Trae is good

Luka might already be one of the 5 or 6 best players in the league

Well Atlanta is the one that catches the most shite.

Trae is better than Ayton and Bagley and they got a pick. I’m less mad Atlanta made the trade today than I was on draft night.

What? Hunter looks like he’s going to be very good. That wasn’t a bad trade at all.

You’d have to give me a first round pick to take on Cam Reddish

-16 per 100 possessions so far.
regardless, it’s a huge gamble with regard to opportunity cost. They already had multiple wing players, they could have added a center of the future, a 2 guard of the future and still had assets to trade. Or they could have taken Clarke at 8 or 17

terrible trade when they made it and it will only get worse in hindsight despite what hunter winds up doing.

Have you watched him play? He’s playing well and Atlanta already has who they think is their future at the 2. Center is really all they’re missing and they stole Bruno with the 2nd round pick. I like what they did.

I mean Trae has done pretty damn good this season but ok

You prefer a "pretty damn good" player or an MVP level player at 20 years old?

Meh. Trae top 10 in Points and Assists with one of the least talented teams in the NBA and playing one of the hardest schedules in the NBA. Not saying he's better than Luka, but I do think its somewhat close

It’s clear the Mavs won that trade but it’s not like the Hawks got Tractor Taylor out of it. Young will be an All-Star for a decade and be in the top 10 player discussion. We’ll see what Reddish turns out to be.

Luka is my boy though.

The funny thing is the bloggers and nerds were all screaming that Luka should go 1st

i'm that nerd.

Its one thing to see slick highlights. But what impressed me was that he was starting for the slovenian national team and they won euroleague.
He was season.mvp and finals mvp.

It is rumored that Vlade and kings passed because vlade doesnt like doncic's father.

or the NBA has become so inherently racist that teams are afraid to go out on the limb of drafting a white Euro 1/1

MFFL are pleased with that. Donny Nelson has had tabs on him since he was 12

Was coming to post this

Donnie Nelson is a big name in the Euro leagues and they are always on players from 12 up.

They did that with Dirk and have 3/4 Euros on the team. Donnie didn’t show his cards but after they got Luka he said that was their whole draft plan was so whatever it took to get Luka.

no, especially not a white guy like Vlade (who wasn't even picking #1)

Ayton went #1 and he looks like he's going to be great. the Suns also had Booker and Booker/Doncic has a lot of repetition

it certainly wasn't due to race. Ayton was just a bigger position of need and a more sure thing

The Suns passing on him was because Sarver desperately wanted to draft local product Ayton instead despite Luka’s coach being the Suns’ coach and telling to draft him instead.

When an owner wants his guy, he gets them if they are on the board no matter how dumb an idea it is. Happened with Vince Young for the Titans, Dwayne Haskins with the Skins, etc.

shite like this is why the Suns have been in purgatory for about the last decade or so.

Yeah it’s not even hindsight really to say he should’ve gone 1

But we didn't see him score 18 points against San Diego State on a Tuesday night on ESPN2. How would we have even known he is good?

But Burrow told us the NBA shouldn't draft foreigners...
