You obviously are out of touch with reality. This will mean open season with recruiting, and no governing body to turn anyone in to. Who would you turn in if all the privates were in their own league and they had private schools constantly talking to the public school athletes about transferring? You think the private school association will really care? No, they won't.

I have relatives there, so I know a little about it. Winnfield received an "A" on its 2011-2012 LA Dept of Education school report card. You may not like Griffin or what she's done in this matter, but the fact is, her school is pretty good academically. The fact that it's an economically depressed area notwithstanding, they do a good job of educating kids, a lot of whom go on to college.

I'm really hoping the split happens and the private schools go their own way. This isn't Texas or VA or TN, the private school league will be the one that thrives, even if it is only 100 schools or so. The public school league wouldn't have enough teams in wrestling, cross country, track, swimming, golf, baseball, etc., to have a model that doesn't lose lots of money. I've had to work with public school coaches at events and many don't even know the rules of the sport they coach.

i'm gonna laugh when the JP schools get picked bone dry of their athletes and we keep ours bc we have a school worth a crap

You know what else no one is talking about which is crazy considering this whole thing is about "fairness." Schools like John Curtis and several other NOLA private schools have horrible training facilities, aged campuses, etc., and public schools like EJ, WJ, and Chalmette have state of the art turf and mondo tracks, access to stadiums and nice weight rooms and a plethora of other privileges.

Its been in some states since 1994. If it was not benefiting the public schools, do ya think the public schools in La, Penn, Ga, and Ohio would be pushing for a split, and the private schools bitching about it?
If the players know they arent going to be playing for "state" championships, some wont go there. You can assume open season all you want, but other states have proven that it cuts off the recruitment pipeline.

John Curtis will target every kid bc of who they are, but they don't have room for every kid
the Catholic schools will target most kids, but not everyone
Newman, Country Day, and St. Martin's won't change who they are for obvious reasons
Ridgewood, Crescent City, and Ecole might try to recruit, but they really have nothing to offer over a decent public school
i'd worry about Riverside and maybe Northlake Christian...

So because the publics didn't want to play the toughest competition, the select division is all of a sudden not a real state championship? The select division champion will be the real winner and everyone including the public school kids will know it. How can you argue when the publics are taking there ball and going home. The privates want to play everyone. Is it "fair" to deny them that?

Jesus I can't believe this thread has gotten this far.
It's simple economics.
Privates schools will pay the most for the best coaches. In turn they can recruit the best athletes with free tuition and gas card for their siblings. Coupled with Jindal's voucher program, that's half the cost right there (as far as the school is concerned). Then Les Miles will only have to go to a few high schools instead of plenty. In turn, more kids will want to go to that high school.
Yes, I know that most public high schools voted for it. But they are ran by idiots who are only concerned about the here and now. They just signed their own death warrant and don't even know it.

Most of the schools that voted for it don't have a private school within 50 miles. They'll be fine.

That's the other thing I was waiting to talk about. The private schools are suppose to play by these same rules now but how about those private schools that HAVE to now compete with the recruiting schools? This forces them into a recruiting battle to stay competitive and attract gates.
The whole split idea is based on a bunch of assumptions
1. The private schools will stay
2. The private schools will still play public schools
3. That recruiting will be reduced
4. That the private schools will play by LHSAAs rules
5. That all this enhances football in Louisiana
The public schools care about only one thing at the end of the day and thats a more level playing field for state titles. The LHSAA dropped the ball by not beefing up an investigative unit into recruiting and applying real pressure on the problem. If we are going to blame the LHSAA over anything it's that they were complicit by allowing JC and the Evangels to do this for so long.
The recruiting is only going to get worst because all of the private schools are going to have to do it now.

So, if the privates leave, will they accept Curtis into their new association?

coming from a guy who just said Miles should leave the public school recruiting to Saban, Sumlin and Malzahn by no longer going to those schools
Thinking like that is why the privates are getting booted out. They were so self-centered, that they ended up screwing themselves.
Its done. Over. Publics are now "all in" for every other sport.

Again don't compare those states to la...their public SCHOOLS are viable , most in La are not.
99% of the kids in private schools are not thtere for state titles...
You are sadly missing those critical points.
The publics drew a line in the sand....they dint want the select admission schools, the consequences will be much different than they anticipated....it aint just about privates
