Kobe Cazes adds EJ to his list of W's on the season as Chalmette improves to 10-0 in district with a complete game 2-0 shutout... but we're at second place Higgins on Tuesday and now he's probably unavailable...

WM swept Ouachita with a 17-1 decision yesterday. Pearson hit his 5th HR of the week. Foust threw a 1 hitter.

You spelled Pearson wrong. And yes...yes he is...5 homeruns this week with dead bats. This kid with a 2 3/4 -5 bat might've hit 30-40 a year.

Still 2 weeks worth of games in the regular season. Barbe has dropped some games, but should get their ace back for the playoffs. He's been out with arm soreness. Really can't predict anything until after the first round. With it being 1 game, anyone can pull the upset. For example, WM swept Ruston for a few seasons if not longer before giving up 5 in the Top of the 7th and losing in the first round last year. In baseball, anyone can win 1 game. It's really quite ridiculous that each round isn't best 2 out of 3.

I agree in part, but now with the split, that adds a huge number of games to be played.

Checking some schedules I see that is true. I knew the last day is the 22nd but in the past, teams would leave the last couple of days open for rescheduling purposes. Doesn't look like thats the case in the ones I checked.

I know WM plays a 3 game series with Pineville this week and a 3 game series with ASH next. Double header Thursday. First round of playoffs is usually Monday/Tuesday.

West Monroe DOES have a stout lineup, perhaps the strongest I have seen in 5A, there is no questioning that. And yes, one of their best baseball teams I have seen in quite some time. They will be a force come playoff time.

Congrats on your nephew, sounds like quite an athlete.

Best of luck!

Who is WM other loss. I know Destrehan beat them once. They are definitely a force this year. Other than them who are the front runners in 5A

They lost 3-1 in 2nd game of the year vs Barbe. They only gave up 1 earned run. Barbe is the absolute best at scoring out of thin air. Other loss was 9 innings in the 4th game in a tourney in Gonzales to Destrehan. Just ran out of pitching and Destrehan won 3-2.

Higgins beats Chalmette 5-4 to move into a tie for the district 8-5A lead... you'll probably see them at 32 and us at 31

There's teams currently ranked in the twenties that are more of a legit contender than Franklin Parish.

I think if they have won 3 straight state titles, it is more than just scoring out of thin air, they probably know what they are doing, but hey, what do I know.

That was a compliment. They are flat out the best at winning games. If they're struggling at the plate, they'll draw a HBP or walk, steal 2nd and/or 3rd or bunt them over, then a fly ball or ball hit behind the runner and boom...a run. They'll do this several times and pull out 3-4/1 type games. That's what makes them so tough to beat. They will manufacture runs and just find a way to win.

barbe adapted it's offensive philosophy to the BBCOR bats better than anyone else - make no mistake about that....

I think that is a very accurate statement. They do not win by accident. You can win many games without hitting HR's. Before BBCOR they had their fair share of big hitters. Post BBCOR they embraced a different style of play. I would say that it worked. Are they beatable? Of course they are, but they will make you earn it!
