Hileman with his second blown save of the season. SLU fall 7-6 in the first game of the DH. Rubber game coming up shortly.

I'll eat my crow, the guy was supposed to be really good. I'm a LSU fan so I'm happy about being wrong.

Tulane played like a JV team in game 2. mental and physical errors. i think we have let like 3-4 runs score on wild pitches, pass balls and errant throws from the catcher. we dropped two balls in the outfield and booted a double play ball....most of this happened in one inning where they scored a bunch. on the other hand, ole miss played very, very good defense. they also have two good SPs. they should be a very good team before their annual melt. one other good thing is that Massey pitched pretty well....defense let him down

Those games happen from time to time. I guess that’s where the saying “that’s baseball” comes from.

Well I understand that there isn’t a big fan base in Monroe but I think Federico will change that. After being a losing team for many years, who would want to go and watch them.

President Bruno needs to start making athletics a priority and he hasn’t until the last 2 years with good hires for football and baseball. It’ll take time for ULM to have decent to good athletics but I believe good things are coming to Monroe.

The problem is that ULM is going to have to hit on all of their hires. They have a very tight budget so anyone who has success will have an opportunity to leave for more money. One bad hire can set the program back for a while, and they're going to have to be creative and smart with their hires because they'll be mostly be coaches from lower tiers or unproven assistants.

That’s very true. We don’t get the donations like LSU and ULL so we don’t have a lot of money so if we do get a good hire, like Viator and Federico, they probably won’t be here for more than 5 years because someone else will be able to scoop them up and pay them more to coach at their school. We did pay Viator a lot more than what we usually pay for football coaches so we’re starting to be more committed to athletics.

Culture, man. You gotta bring a culture of expectations and winning. And the university has to commit to that as well whether it’s promoting the program or dropping some dollars. In Lafayette, we have done both through our fans and our new stadium after the success Robe brought us early on. It breeds expectations for all involved. I had the chance to make a trip to Monroe for a baseball series a few years ago, and there definitely needs to be a push for a stadium enhancement as well as more support. If this coach can bring your team some success, then it’s time for the fans and donors to step up.

Yeah.... A HR hit one of those POS pine trees and bounced back onto the field. The umps ruled it not a HR

Weird shite. I guess theres no replay in college baseball?

Yeah because we got robbed of a two run homerun by the umpires. Our right fielder hit one over the left field wall and hit a tree before it bounced back in the field. The ump calls it a homerun before they get together for a ump’s conference. They then said it didn’t go over. Robe then got livid and chewed their asses before getting tossed.

That group of umpires is always fricking bad and we always have their bitch asses. I hate them all. Clear as day homer without even the need for replay
