Would be classic. After he’s announced Lawrence comes out and says congrats to Urban but I never like the guy and he doesn’t align with my Christian values. He’s why I went to Clemson and not OSU. And I don’t plan to play for him.

At the college level you have that choice. The NFL is the selling of cattle. It starts at the combine when they measure you and check your teeth and you know how the rest plays out.

I think he's got a much better temperament to succeed than some college coaches, he seems very analytical. But never having coached in the NFL there has to be a learning curve.

I didn’t have the heart to make a shitty Urban Meyer health joke, and quite frankly neither does he.

I'll be interested to see how he and Shad Khan get along since Khan basically declared that he was taking over personnel decisions.

This is not what he said. He has been largely absent from the franchise for years. He basically said he’s going to be present with major decisions.

quote:

“The roster control is [because] you don’t want players going in and out or contracts given until you’re aware of that,” Khan said when asked about the direction of his management and roster control. “So striking the balance between delegation and abdication, I think, is an important point. Certainly, I found that in the last 15 months, having that necessitates a conversation, you’re part of the conversation with the GM and the head coach. So being part of that here for the immediate future I think is important to me.” Khan made it clear that whomever the team hires as its future head coach and general manager will report directly to him, both positions able to express their concerns with the ownership, rather than a one-man-leads-all approach such as the one that was led when Coughlin was the team’s EVP of football operations.

Maybe Urban actually sees that as a positive for him, who knows. He may actually be on board for less responsibility. That, unfortunately for the Jags, doesn’t mean Khan will be good at that part of the job

Im not defending his post. Its pretty damn dumb.

but i think it's pretty well known that Lawrence is pretty serious about his faith.

Ah ok, I have admittedly not paid that much attention to the Jaguars situation and had seen it made out as though Khan was trying to become Jerry Jones like. My bad.

no worries man, you’re far from the only one. The narrative of the mustachioed Jerry Jones has exploded. Khan probably should’ve been more clear initially.

He has zero playing and coaching experience at the NFL level. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
