I believe last year they only had like 20 players. Their official LHSAA enrollment was 81. That is ~40 males. If 50% play, that is the 20. Probably only half of those are big and/or athletic enough to compete. About 10 players that can compete - not even a full offense or defense. Then for practice - if there are no injured players - you might have enough for 11 vs 11. Almost impossible task to make that team competitive. The next smallest enrollment in non-select schools is Gueydan with 123. The next smallest in their district is Ringgold with 152
If I remember correctly, Plain Dealing had basically little kids playing for them. Like 7th graders starting for the high school team. Probably shouldn’t even be allowed for safety reasons. This year they are declining to play in their district, went and schedule teams all over the state that are just as weak or newer programs coming into LHSAA.
I could be wrong but think I read that Bolton shut their program down or was very close to it.

Schools that small though bring out 7th and 8th graders… (who are counted in the enrollment numbers now)

Does Louisiana have 6 or 8 man football? They seem to be a pretty good candidate for it

Not sponsored by the LHSAA. There are some schools in La that play 8-man but compete in MAIS (Mississippi Assn of Independent Schools).
Honestly more small schools in La should consider it. Texas has 6 man for schools under 100 enrollment, but there are several schools with sub 50 enrollment who compete and do well.
