only hope is to get this kid to 85 pitches and have like 2 outs left to get 1 run. think louisiana has the better team but this kid is the best player in the tournament

Brown has been fantastic, as well

they should sit brown after this inning and save the day of rest IMO.
partly because i think they can use someone else against the SD lineup but also because this game is over

This kid is actually unreal at pitching.

On the positive side, they know they’re not gonna face anybody better the rest of the way

Did I just hear that correctly? 500 pitches the entire summer and 1 hit for this kid!?

Just a bad draw for Lafayette. Win their region and face by far the best pitcher in the tournament first game. SD will probably lose their next 2 and be out unless somehow 4 days pass before their 3rd game.

Damn. He really needed to make him throw that 85th pitch in that AB. Difference between having 1 out and 2

New pitcher with Brown up

Kid threw one strike in the last at bat

I know the strike zone is big, but that stunk

Ump was absolute shite that last inning. Didnt see most of the game but those last few ABs were awful from behind the plate

That’s what it seems like.

Funny thing is SD wouldn't even be there if international teams were in the tournament
ETA: Weir is the best 12 year old pitcher I've ever seen. There's kids that can throw harder or maybe have a better breaking ball but they're just up there throwing. That kid actually pitches. Half of LSU's pitching staff this past year were just throwing and not pitching.

I don’t know if the regional finals are one game with the winner takes all.
South Dakota was undefeated heading into the final. At state, it’s double elimination all the way through. In the championship, if a team is undefeated, the challenger has to win twice.

SD pitcher was nasty. I thought we would hit him better the 2nd time around but it just got worse. Lol.

He's an elite pitcher. It's tough to project the future when they're this young but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he becomes one of the few from the LLWS to make it to the bigs. I can't think of a more dominant arm in the LLWS. Most that dominant are just blowing it by kids with upper 70s fastballs like Kennon Fontenot from SLC in 2012. Weir throws hard but not insanely overpowering. His control and being able to consistently mix his pitches up and keep throwing strikes makes him the best I've seen. It's fun to watch him pitch.

Meanwhile, Texas West almost broke it open a moment ago vs Washington.
