Curious as to how The Pirate, if still alive & coaching there, would handle this.
He'd have told the admin to frick off they don't get to dictate who plays and then Tech would have fired him and refused to pay out his contract just like they did the first time when he told them to frick off over Adam James.
What's funny to me is that Tech has pretty much guaranteed the Big 10 will fight tooth and nail to keep them out of any kind of super league. 6 months ago they may have been able to slide in w/a few Big 12 teams. Now? Unless they immediately backpedal the Big 10 is going to ban their schools from playing them in ALL sports. Would not be surprised to see the SEC and ACC follow their lead. Hell, if Tech isn't careful on how they play this they may even get expelled from the Big 12.

The Big 12 ADs met Tuesday, the Big 12 commissioner is going to meet with Big12 board executives on Thursday, and the full Big 12 board of presidents and chancellors is going to meet next week.
I would be surprised if they don’t do something prohibitively to Texas Tech or Brenden Sorsby. The Big 12 wasn’t a party to the Sorsby lawsuit, so he’d have to file another lawsuit against them. Honestly, if they put out their punishment close enough to the supplemental draft they may force his hand, because it may be too late to try to get another injunction before the deadline. He would have to go into the supplemental draft or roll the dice and possibly have to sit out a year.

This has been an interesting decision that Tech has made. On one hand I get it but on the other they have poisoned the well so extensively you wonder if they just killed the future of their program when the ultimate breakaway happens

That's kind of what I said in another thread. The conferences, CFP, and whoever else need to just throw everything they can at Tech. Sorsby can't sue everyone, and at some point Tech has to tap out.

That situation could easily be in LSU's lap if Sorsby decided to come here... so there's no judgement from me.
If it was LSU I’d be writing letters to everyone at LSU I could think of. Disgraceful

Even after a couple of days to process the reactions across the sport and administrations of other universities, the Texas Tech AD is making it clear they're willing to die on this hill. Very long worded way of saying they still plan on keeping him on the team and playing. We'll see how it works out for them, especially long term.

Is a local judge able to overrule a forfeit?
Yes. Of course.

Lubbock, TX is a land island. People who live there wake up in a dust bowl everyday. No trees, no grass, no shade. Just a hangover and dirt. The lucky ones get to grow cotton and aren’t felons. Then Cody Campbell fell into their laps and all that isn’t so bad.

I wouldn’t be either. Blue bloods have been cheating for a century. They are losing grasp on power. Love seeing Tech telling them to shove it.

Doesn't Boutte have some eligibility left?

I don't think there's actually much intrigue left. They're cooked. The only intrigue is how retarded and self-sabotaging Tech wants to be
Campbell is chief retard and if he has any actual love for his school he will shut the frick up for good
