That’s my point, it’s only Jefferson Parish where the school board owns the stadiums.

Everywhere else they are owned by the local government or under private contract.

Whatever way is the more stupid way.

LHSAA should be dissolved. Mississippians and Texans should run our high school athletics.

So you want Mississippi (where most of their private schools play in their own crappy association) to run our athletics.

or

You want Texas (where their private schools also play in a their own association, one that pales in comparison to the publics) to run Louisiana's athletics.

Makes complete sense, . For as flawed as the LHSAA is private schools have flourished under the LHSAA where as private school athletics are an afterthought in many states especially the two you mentioned in Texas & Mississippi.

What is North Louisiana’s problem with South Louisiana private schools? Hardly ever play each other.

bc North LA is used to small town community football. They’ve never had to compete to keep their athletes in the public school system like we do

This is not true. They have the authority to investigate whatever they want, regardless of who reports it. They are only required to investigate things reported by principals, but they have the authority to investigate whatever they want.

That is a recent change with some caveats

What are the caveats? The rule just says, “The Executive Director or his/her designee shall have the authority to investigate any unreported violation(s) he/she deems necessary.” It seems fairly unrestricted?

the scope of what they can actually look at and request from the schools / parents does not always show said violation. Nor do they have the manpower to investigate each one...

if you followed every player from every football team home select/non select you would find every team has a player living with a non custodial parent/relative in a different attendance zone. unlike the NCAA they can't look to deeply into finances so some recruiting/inducement is hard to prove. and the line between recruiting and marketing is at times very blurry

We're smart enough to make the private schools have their own association. (Except for the two Jesuit schools we let in, since they're too large for the private school associations but too small to really threaten any of the public schools)

exponentially less private schools per student in TX... because publics are much more viable

doesn’t TX have additional rules to tie their hands?

Outside of the two Jesuits... do any private high schools in Texas have more than 500 kids?

TAPPS 6A, their highest classification, is 380 and above.

Well, they are sort of part of state government. They are run by the University of Texas.

Kids should play in their zone or sit out a year this should be for private or public.

They were allowed in under a change in rules, where a private school can join only if none of the private school associations will take them (and only then if it is due to size; San Antonio Cornerstone Christian -- affiliated with John Hagee's outfit -- tried to get in claiming TAPPS wouldn't take them, but that was because TAPPS kicked them out for rules violations).

Hard to say because I can't find any info on actual size from the TAPPS website.

But in football it wouldn't mean much, for example at the highest level (in football TAPPS calls it "Division I" there are only 15 schools and outside of one in Midland they're in DFW, Greater Houston, or San Antonio).

I see the downvotes l. I would like to know why a kid should be able to play out of zone the first year at a school.

that isn’t the issue. The issue is that the first year in some schools is 8th grade or before, when no one makes varsity anyway. Make kids sit out 9th grade if they’re out of zone
