fear has been that it will be abused.. but every other loophole/rule is abused.. if parents have enough money to "establish" new domicile and fake like they are selling old house... all is well.. move back right after season
There's abuse in little league with where kids live... parents just suck, that's all.
I wonder if they should just leave eligibility up to the schools to decide. If a kid is allowed to attend, they are eligible. I'm sure it will be abused, but then LHSAA can focus on issues they can actually impact.

How many freshmen really blow it up on varsity, anyways? Not many. So if they pull shenanigans, are they really getting much of an advantage?
If you move after freshman year, still have to sit out for a year unless you are granted a waiver. Let the LHSAA focus on that one.

vote to clean up financial aid failed.. that's not a good sign for ending split.

antonio, the N Vermillion proposal has the most support and could pass.
Agree but I still don’t see it happening - 66% is a huge threshold.
The great news is that all of the eligibility changes were voted down. 7, 8, 9th graders eligibility is restored. Principals made a great decision here.

It was a poorly written change. It needed to fail.
No problem with tightening up financial aid but this was not the answer.

So act 465 is still good

Needed a success multiplier.

A general multiplier doesn’t really solve the problems.

Maybe I am reading it wrong.. It looks like they removed Act 465 language, so kids for example in Catholic middle schools are not automatically eligible in Catholic High schools if they are not in the attendance zone... and then from there the LHSAA made freshman not in the attendance zones eligible for subvaristy only. Seems like a decent compromise since initially the LHSAA wanted to make all freshman outside of attendance zones ineligible for all teams (freshman, jv or varsity)

There is a second part to 1.12.4 that passed said that students matriculating from an elementary school to a high school within the same system are completely eligible.
That’s very close to the language of 465.

No. 48, which strikes all language from constitution related to Act 465 of legislature (ruled unconstitutional by LA Supreme Court), passes.
@BMHSCrusaders
principal Ryan Gallagher lobbied to keep language in.

Right. There were two separate sections. The first passed had the language I just quoted.
The second was 465. That one failed.

So if a kid goes to an eighth grade catholic school , even though it’s out of zone, they eligible for varsity as a freshman.
