As a Patterson grad from less than 10 years ago this makes me insanely upset to know that you’re right. It’s crazy how much it’s died off since Minton left.

aside the fact that only around 1/4 of the schools had someone show up at the meetings - shows that only 1/4 are really interested in resolving the split.

He means it should read “overwhelming MAJORITY” instead of “minority”.

LHSAA Executive Committee just revised some of its eligibility changes and restored subvarsity eligibility to 7, 8, and 9th graders.
Big win for student-athletes across the state.

#1 and they split and form their own association
Most of the public school principals from CENLA, Shreveport, and Monroe areas had a meeting last week and most are hoping for this outcome

What about getting rid of act 465. ?
A lot of things recently with the LHSAA topped the cake, but this one tops the cake, that’s on top of the cake.
YOU GOT TO BE FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Lol.
For catholic schools in BR, this would prob mean “Sacred Heart and/or St Alyousis (sp) would be the in district feeder to Catholic High. And SJV would be the only feeder to St. Michaels”
But screw all of the other kids in catholic elementary schools across the Metro BR area.
It’s time for the private to pack up and roll out.
Posted on 1/29/20 at 2:29 pm to choupiquesushi
what does this mean? 7th graders can play up freshman ball and not lose eligibility or something?

This makes sense. I understand restricting varsity eligibility for a year, but to restrict subvarsity eligibility was stupid.

How does the split screw over kids?

It just depends on the public school zone where the private school sits.
St. Michael sits in Woodlawns attendance zone so Woodlawn’s attendance zone automatically becomes St. Michael’s attendance zone.

At least for New Orleans schools, the public school system does not own those stadiums. In BR, BREC, not the public school system owns all of the off-site stadiums.

What is North Louisiana’s problem with South Louisiana private schools? Hardly ever play each other.
Zachary beating West Monroe anyway.

The public school system doesn't own the stadium OC plays in. OC and OHS (and previously Wesminster) play at Donald Gardner Stadium in South City Park in Opelousas. It's owned and maintained by the city/parks dept.
