LCCP had a horrible kicking game. Couldn’t even attempt an extra point. Then tried to run the swinging gate play for the 2 point conversion and was flagged for illegal motion…game over.

The swinging gate was for 4th down in OT and not a 2 pt conversion.
Go to the 3:11:28 mark:

Vandebilt kicked a FG on their set of downs. Goes to show you the importance of special teams.

Illegal motion is not a loss of down, they should get another down after emforcemebt

Having no kicking game in a Div 3 school is ridiculous. They deserved to lose that game for basically eliminating the special teams aspect.
since St Aug’s last state title might wanna go back and look at how many times kicking game failures have ended their seasons

Would like to hear some post game analysis from TigerAlum93.

He had a lot of pregame analysis…..

quote:

No way Neville wins a shoot out. Their offense is not better than Barbe’s. They will have to limit Barbe’s rushing attack to even stay in the game. And watch out, Barbe can throw it too when needed. Don’t see Neville slowing down a very hot Bucs team. Nobody wants to play them right now except maybe Ruston.

quote:

Curious to see if Neville will have the firepower on offense to stay in the game.

quote:

Their offense may need 40+ this week, that is what I question. Not sure they are built for a shootout, Barbe is going to put up points on the scoreboard. THAT is highly likely.

quote:

Barbe can throw it too. Neville got their hands full with a 25 seed.

In reference to the Vandy v. LCCP swinging gate play?

It was 4th down and Vandy declined the penalty. Game over.

Notre Dame of Crowley eked out a win vs LRCA on some heroic defensive plays and 4th down conversions.

LRCA was impressive from a preparation, execution, commitment, and athletic ability standpoint, for a brand-new high school, and I would expect them to be a force in the coming years.

If they have any kind of kicker they probably kick that and win the game…
appaently they have a kicker, might wanna dig into what happened to him

BUT

That’s like an 18 yard poke… half the team should be able to execute that

They are essentially a 4A school enrollment wise playing in 2A and hired a bunch of people away from LCA

when you know you don't have a dependable kicker, how much practice time do you really spend on a snap and a hold though?

ETA: and does all that working smoothly outweigh just giving it to your best player from that distance?
