More coming out of this Benton/DS game. I’m hearing there was 1 second left on the clock on 4th down. Benton snapped ball and took a knee and the clock operator only took 0.4 seconds off the clock.
I’m not sure of the validity of this, but if this is true, there’s absolutely no way this result should stand.

Thanks. I remember that being the rule until the semifinals. Just didn't know if they changed the rules with the new divisions.

In summary, Benton leading by two with the ball takes a knee on 4th with .6 left on own 13. Denham Springs then kicks field goal to win

Benton head coach Reynolds Moore: “the referees told us we’d be OK to snap at one second. We snapped it at one second. We just got cheated”

Game was at Benton. Who operates the clock in the playoffs? Home team or neutral operator?

Wow. Benton coach on radio now. They told him not to call a time out and to snap the ball at 1 second and that would end the game. The ref even went to to white hat and told them what they told the coach. White hat didn’t care, DS gets to kick.

Just got back home from WF. WF ended up putting it on Erath but it was tight until the third quarter. WF had either 4 or 5 long TDs called back on holds. The ones I saw seemed legit. Otherwise this score could have been bigger.
WF plays in a Baton Rouge 4A district that consists of Istrouma, Belaire, McKinley, Plaquemine and Tara. This year the fans of Erath take the cake for being the most classless group I have ever seen. The kids were fine. They played their hearts out.
On to playing @ North Vermillion who looks to be a tough team. And due to Lshaa’s insane home team rules the #2 seed goes to #23, who just hosted a home game against #7.
Also - Z handled business. Go Broncos and Go Saints.

That sounds extremely fricked up

They should change that rule to where if you play a “road” game in your parish or in one that borders your parish, it shouldn’t count as a road game for the purposes of determining home and away

Sounds like Benton coach put his faith in a referee. Does he not watch any level of football and know they all suck? Should have figured it out for himself. That loss is on him.

I still dont understand why take a knee on 4th down? Just snap & run around/make them tackle you (fall down when defender is about to tackle) then end game, why take knee and give chance for ref/game clock to mess up

No bias here whatsoever.

The coach explained he was going to take a TO and do just that, but the ref told him he didn’t have to. Just snap it at 1, take a knee and ball game.
Like the poster said above, he probably shouldn’t have left it in their hands and gone with his first instinct.

Patterson and Berwick both hosting quarterfinal games with a chance to meet in the semis
that’s amazing

Absolutely, not hiding it either.

Isn’t it if you upset someone, you take their seed.

Unfortunately coaches don't know the rules as well as they should. The officials fcked up by putting 25 seconds on the play clock following the defensive injury. Should have been 40 seconds with both the game clock and play clock starting on the ready.
