re: LHSAA playoffs round 1…

If they used Vidalia(closest and it same parish) cost of sheriff's for security would be the same but same fans, same team same dynamic. Would vidalia town cops provide additional security or would Ferriday - this opens a whole new can of worms.
If Ferriday somehow finds a way to stay in the playoffs, I don’t think the next opponent Welsh would be to excited to go there. I would be asking for a neutral site.
Game management would still fall on Ferriday - Vidalia or any other venue wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole.
This is a growing problem and really needs draconian fixes.
No fans is not fair to the opponent. But fans didn't cause the fight.

Could the game just be played in Welsh?

it could but i doubt it, because it wasn't a venue issue.(like a few years back when a site that had a shooting had there next game moved.

I doubt they would let Welsh have the game. I could see maybe a stadium in Alexandria (central location) where they would have enough resources.

I mean ferriday is 100% done but if they are in I don’t think they move the game unless that’s just the tool the LHSAA uses to “punish” them. If it were an issue where the fans were involved that’s one thing but the fans/other people attending really didn’t get involved.

Well Ferriday caused this scenario. They should be on the hook for the additional cost.

This doesn't happen enough. Schools that break rules, but aren't the kids fault, should not be allowed to host playoff games.
As far as Ferriday goes, do they have 11 players that weren't involved in the fight to where they could field a team Friday?

To me watching the video from the stands it looks like the whole team comes onto the field during the scuffle.

I believe they are done, too few remained

We’d have to define “not involved”… what if a kid runs toward the fight but doesn’t attempt to strike the other team’s player? What if the kid stays still but the fight comes to him?
And is the definition of going onto the field a little harsh in this situation? Guys are spilling a bit over the sideline naturally which shouldn’t suspend them, that’s not the intent of the rule. Now the guys going after the other team and crossing the numbers or something like that, suspend them

Man if I’m on that Lake Arthur sideline watching that, why wouldn’t I run into there and start whooping arse?

the definition is comes onto the field, coaches and players know it.

I think by rule if you cross the out of bounds line regardless if you throw a punch it’s a DQ. That’s a rule from high school to the pros.
Posted on 11/18/24 at 8:51 am to SWLA92
And there are umpteen instances of it being enforced liks this. Even 4 kids from a 3 seed barely going into field and missing a round 2 game(which they win).
Game management, coaches needs to handle

I think that’s why Lake Arthur coaches should be commended on keeping their team on the sideline. The whole team could have easily ran across the field and made a bad situation alot worse.

Agree and I think that is the main reason the discussion / decision has made it through the weekend.

Would you allow them to play next week?
