chalmette, I think Hahnville, Desty, and ESJ will be lumped with Jefferson schools in some fashion. We (HHS) would love to have the old bayou district set up again, it's not that bad for travel but I think the folks in that district will block it from happening.

I would like to see UHS in 3a as long as Curtis isn't "playing up" to 3a. If UHS moves to 3a I would expect them to be able to add to current enrollment of the school. Maybe we can finally have room for an athlete or 2.

ECA is... Curtis may or may not - they like their 2a district - some games w high gate.. although 3A district w EDW, SCC ST James would be nice gates too... which district they will be in will decide for curtis.. FROM what I am told...

they might not block it anymore, ESJ, destrehan and Hahnville all suck compared to the old days.

I forgot about that district, they could go there. Earlier I was thinking they would have to go to the McMain/De la Salle district and I know they wouldn't do that.

Also I wonder if st Charles would drop to 2a if Curtis is possibly placed in their district.

Another thing is, if this play up thing is an option, the New Orleans public schools will run away from Curtis. In high school I went to McMain, we were in the 4a district with Curtis, Karr, Carver and Walker. We jumped to the 5a district to avoid Curtis. Also Walker later joined us also. I'm thinking this same thing will happen again.

They are down, but would roll in that district. I like the district based on the tradition we had with them. I remember the games from the mid-60's on and the atmosphere in those games. Playing in the district with Higgins, Ehret, and Bonnabel is no where near the same; they don't bring fans (home or away). My kids didn't get to play in the old district like I did since they are still in HS but they did like playing against Dutchtown, St. Amant, and EA but I don't think that would be put together again.

here's my thing... some of the schools that jump up to avoid a john curtis or whoever are too scared of a school they may never even play

if you're in 2A with Curtis and you want to jump up to 3A, that brings its own set of problems

With Karr and OP Walker now being charter schools with the ability to get players from all over Orleans parish, not just splitting Algiers, I doubt they would be scared of playing Curtis in district. JMO though.

3A just seems like the step child of classifications. With the exception of a couple, all the districts are weird and spread out. Only like 4 teams are ever any good. The disparity between the biggest school and smallest school is pretty huge (not like 5A huge, but the marginal difference at 5A is not as meaningful).

Well Karr stayed in the district back then instead of moving up to the New Orleans public school district. I was more talking about teams like Cohen, Carver and Clark. They would be more competiitve against similar schools.

I think its crazy for teams that arent even in their district. For district opponents, it has happened in the past and will continue to happen if playing up is allowed.

St. Charles is exploring the possibility of moving up to 4A depending on which teams play up from 2A. If Curtis plays up to 3A, St. Charles may stay in the same class. If Curtis doesn't, they may opt to play up in hopes of being in the same district as Lutcher. I think SCC is worried about being placed in the New Orleans district (De La Salle, McMain, Lusher and Clark) that doesn't travel well at all. I know Riverside is in the same boat. Everyone is looking for what will bring in the biggest gate on game days.

Gotcha. I'm wondering what the long term viability of Carver is right now. There were rumors of shutting down the athletic dept last spring. I don't know much about the other two schools though. Don't even know where they're located.

i love following 3A lol... loved when we were in it, loled when Holy Cross was in it.

it's a weird mix of schools like Bogalusa, the schools of those places with history and a big stadium, if not the fans and enrollment it once had, and places like Pine Prarie now, places out in the sticks with no fans
