agree with all of that.. but... what EC is doing is not a school but an association of kids to play football..

And they played 4 games this year. 4. Not exactly the model to follow if you want to actually play games.

They are the first of their kind. Give it time. It will catch on. As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I agree with you slackster. Cath-NI & Calvary are best teams in this division. I think either would dismantle Episcopal. I went to Cath-NI-Loreauville game and was very impressed. What's got me scratching my head, is how did they lose to VC? Also, Fusilier, star WR, has a foot issue that has him limping around. Outran LHS DBs on a long TD reception though, still not 100%. Calvary's predistrict schedule will have them prepared.

Why no bitching about Haynes in Division III? They were seeded 13th out of 15 teams and are skipping the playoffs. The result is that Episcopal and Calvary Baptist get a bye in Division III.

Pretty sure Haynes didn't play a district schedule, meaning they were ineligible for the playoffs.

I think Byrd has a good shot at making it to the Dome in Div 1.

They are the 2 seed and 4-6 hours away from all the other teams so home field advantage is huge.

They are not in the Catholic league and haven't played any of these teams already. They run an option offense with a lot of variations. It takes some time to prepare for them. Defense is solid and has faced many different styles of play throughout the season.

What about Newman? What kind of team are they and can they possibly make a run......looks like they score a ton of points.

Riverside?

I wouldn't call having to beat either Notre Dame or Parkview a "walk" to the dome IMHO

let em keep doing that...

Kind of. They're using the Findlay Prep model, which has been around for a while now. It's much easier to set up with basketball and it's still not growing very quickly there.

I know there was a mini-boom of basketball schools for a while, but the NCAA cracked down on diploma mills and most of them went away.

You have any match-up predictions for the finals in the 9 championship games?

yep.. waiting on some feedback regarding some injuries before going all out but...

select division 1
jesuit over bm then staug over jesuit
rummel scottlandville.... hornets give em a run... but raiders.. prevail..
hard to beat jay roth twice in one year.... raiders top knights...

other bracket catholic over HC
shaw over st pauls then byrd bounces either.

byrd too much for bears.. byrd goes to dome vs rummel...

toss up

I think U-High beats either ND or Parkview by 2 TDs. More team speed than both. UHigh has the athletes to man up on WRs and stack the box to stop the run. They won't get pushed around up front. Difference is Brossette, if they stack the box, Miles has weapons to throw to.

manning up on either ND or PB wrs.. is not what you do to stop them.... doesn't matter much anyway... with patriots looming..

The defense actually looked pretty good friday night. I understand Franklin isnt necessarily an offensive juggernaut but they didnt look bad at all, IMO.

ETA: as far as spence is concerned is gonna be really tough without him. theyre down to third string at QB if i heard right as well. second string got hurt in JV action earlier this season.

What changed for them? They also got beat pretty soundly by Patterson?

Did the lights just come on for Lissard?

Also, in Division III, I think the State Championship will come down to the CHS-NI vs. Calvary semi-final.

CHS-NI will get Dunham this week, probably travel to Northlake Christian in the quarters, and should get Calvary at home, since Calvary is guaranteed a home game in the quarters.

Catholic has been dismantling teams since their loss to Notre Dame. They've won 5 straight games, 4 of which against playoff teams, by a combined score of 289-56 (57.8-11.2 scoring average). They beat #1 ranked Loreauville 51-8 at Loreauville. Even in their loss to the Pios, they scored 22 points on Notre Dame, the most Norte Dame allowed all season. ND gave up an average of 6.66 points in their other 9 games this year.

I think CHS-NI will be a tough out, especially if they can get Calvary at home.

if riverside gets their QB back.. school is out....

Ha. Not at all. They are almost exclusively a run team. They might pass it 5 times a game.

Lissard graduated last year.

Jason Pellerin is the QB this year. Brent Indest is now the coach, and the team went from a spread passing attack in 2012 to the Wing-T in 2013. Took some time to get adjusted to the new scheme, and the growing pains were pretty evident.

Loss to Vermillion Catholic in OT on the road in the rain with quite a few turnovers. Came back and took care of Erath, then went back on the road to face Patterson. Didn't quite have the athletes to hang with Patterson, although the game was within a score at half.

Catholic beat a pretty good ED White team by 21 the following week. Notre Dame was the next week and quickly went up 20-0 on CHS-NI, but Catholic pulled within 8 in the 3rd quarter at 30-22. In the end, ND's size and running game was just too much and they pulled away 44-22.

That was the last time CHS has lost. They've been running the Wing-T to perfection and thoroughly dominated #1-ranked Loreauville on the road. They've played the 3rd-toughest schedule in 2A behind Calvary and Homer, so they will be tested when the playoffs roll around. If they beat VC in OT, they would have been the #3 seed in 2A combined, behind Episcopal and Calvary.

I think Riverside and Newman will pose a challenge coming from the top of the bracket, but the winner out of CHS-NI and Calvary in the bottom half will win in the dome IMO. Dunham will pose a challenge in the 1st round, and they only lost by 1 to Episcopal, but I think CHS-NI will continue to roll, and barring and an upset to Calvary, the semi-final game will be at CHS-NI. That game will be a shootout and I hope it comes to fruition.
