It would be nice to see Franklin win a title. That poor place could use some vibes.

It's an interesting campus.

Once in the largest classification, now it's in Division IV as a small Class 2A school. The football stadium and school are vast.

Three straight trips to the championship game back to back state titles. Coach building something nice down in Franklin. Congrats to them on another great season.

I graduated from Franklin High in 1990. At the time the enrollment was around 1100. My graduating class was around 250. We're in 4A (no 5A at the time), and in the same district as Lafayette, Acadiana, Comeaux, Carencro, New Iberia, Opelusues, And Northside.

Also the campus was mostly rebuilt in the mid 80's and was really nice at the time.

Sometimes later, West St. Mary was built in Baldwin and took away half the enrollment.

Graduated in 99 from FHS last year of full campus. Class was 376. I think total enrollment that year was close to 2,000 the school was busting at the seems but they wouldn’t open the round building. I always said they should’ve built a new school that could’ve combined the entire west end of the parish. Would’ve been a power house in sports especially with the non select split that came later.

All 10 number 1 seeds made the semifinals.

Number 1 seeds were 7-3 in semifinals

Number 1 seeds are 1-3 in finals as of now with 3 more playing tomorrow.

Lacassine finally got one for the number 1 seeds.

Wow I didn’t realize Franklin was that big. What happened to drop the enrollment so much? Was it just the other schools opening?

Opened West St Mart high school and like most small towns people started moving out as the jobs left the area. I think for the first couple of years after they built the new school they were both either 2A or 3A and over time just got smaller and smaller. Both lucky to be 1A now.

I was raised in Franklin. West st Mary is the Reason. It was known all around those parts that the majority of athlete came from Baldwin and 4 corners. Also jobs left jeanerette when the mill closed. Franklin high had some really strong teams in the 80’s and 90’s but being in the district with all the Lafayette pubs and Nish and MC killed all that.

I’ve not seen one high school bball game in years. I’ve been watching this week on tv. Defense definitely seems to be the name of the game for all the games I’ve seen, including this StA-STM game on now. I’ve not seen many made 3s at all.
Is this the typical state of high school bball these days.

-Technical foul on St. Augustine. Bourque from STM got caught up in the Purple Knights' huddle after a timeout was called. 8-8, 3:50, 2nd Quarter. Couvillon came over to the St. Aug bench to help up Bourque, who was on the floor. There was some jostling. Matthew Cook makes both free throws. Cougars 10, St. Aug 8 3:48, 2nd Quarter.
