OK, so what? Public and private recruit. Some schools have advantages over others, be it in facilities, funding, etc.
Penalize the offenders and move on. Changing the entire system was the pussified path.

We actually have to penalize the offenders though. Coaches that run clean programs shouldn’t be punished. The split was an over reaction for sure but something has to be done.

This statement is usually the prelude to something getting completely fricked up.
"but we have to do SOMETHING!!!"
Why? Seriously, why?

I already stated the split was an over reach. When something is broken you need to try to fix it. Breaking it more just to say you did something is 100% wrong but doing nothing is wrong too.

How about enforcing the laws on the books?
But then, publics cheat just as much, or more, so that was a no go.
Bradie James was the most high profile recruit in LHSAA history. What was done to West Monroe?
What about Cam Robinson? What was done to West Monroe?
In cities like New Orleans and Baton Rouge, where there is no viable public school system, all recruiting rules should be paused or canceled. If the public school officials had any morals, they would beg private schools to take their students.

It's MUCH easier for public schools to recruit.
And you refer to these students as commodities with no no personal agency of their own.

What is the purpose of even listing the first round in Div 1? Everyone has a bye
Posted on 2/18/19 at 4:46 pm to Pahnew
I'm guessing that they wanted to keep the same format across all brackets, but who knows. We are dealing with the dregs of the worst education system in the country.

You are mistaking me for somebody taking a side on public vs private. I’m not. Enforce the rules evenly for everybody or don’t have those rules.

Some of the teams and their records entering the tourny. There are many others with similar records.
Class B-Magnolia School of Excellence (1-11)
Class C-Plainview (3-25)
DIV V-St Joseph's Plaucheville (3-22)
DIV I-Evangel Christian (3-17)
DIV II-Parkview Baptist(4-22)
It's an absolute disgrace what they have done to high school sports.

And those schools know they don't belong. It's not the kids fault. It's the fricking LHSAA and the public school principals that ram-rodded this bullshite.

quote:Oh I don't blame the kids. I feel sorry for them. It's terrible that some of these teams have to go and get completely embarrassed in these playoff games. I refereed a playoff game last year in which we ran the clock in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th qrt because the score was so lopsided. The visiting team traveled several hours to get beat by 70 points. That's where we are now with this setup.

Another silly situation in this split is that you have schools in the same school district voting against each other's interest.
IMO, a school district should have a united front and make the right decision for all the students (and the taxpayers). There is no reason for one school in the district to vote for the split and another to vote against the split. That's how you end up with public magnets in the select with the privates.
Completely ridiculous.

quote:Nope. It is all based upon admission policy. Can a school turn down applicants or are they forced by law to accept all applicants. That is why they are called select schools or non-select schools.

I understand that. The issue is that when the vote took place, each school had a vote. So you had schools within the same school board voting differently, when it should've been a a unified vote within the district.
Something that affects that many students and that much taxpayer money should not have been voted differently by schools within a district. The superintendent should not have allowed that.
