Let’s talk about the lack of Pelicans support in Louisiana outside of NOLA.

It’s almost like they don’t exist. They were very good last year compared to usual. They have a top 3 player in the league. A nice arena and are located in what’s supposed to be a good state for sports fans.
I never see people wearing pels gear or pels decals on cars like I do for other teams in their respective states.
What’s the deal here?

Some people have already decided to stick to the team they pulled for before the Pels came to NOLA.

The Pels never came to Nola. The hornets never left Nola. The team has been there for a long time they just changed the name from Hornets to Pelicans in 2013. It still had the same players and all

I couldn’t give 2 shits about the pels. Maybe 1 or 2 of my group of fam/friends even mentions them. Not trying to be an arse, there’s just no interest. I like going to a game but watching it is not in my top 10 even on a bad night

Not really a Nola sports guy if you believe that. The Pels should just move cities to a place where they are wanted. Apparently more people don’t care about them than people who do by a large margin.

I actually felt like the fan support went up pretty big this past season and with the playoffs.
I will say this off-season losing a star player that was a major marketing device to sell tickets (#DoItBig) sucked for the fans that were latching on but aren’t die hards.
I live in north LA and have some pelicans gear and see it around town every now and then.
I don’t think the Pels support is any worse than the bottom half of teams.

Same thing in Atlanta with the Hawks.
Living in the city I guess some people care about them. The surrounding metro has some support for them, and then it just falls off the map once you go 20 miles outside 285

1) Tom Benson and his stealing of state tax payer money, just like he did with the Saints.
2) People in Louisiana are FOOTBALL fans outside of NOLA, especially high school and college.
3) NBA players are drama queens and way overpaid
4) If people are to NOLA is for the food and tourism, not to watch groundball.
