With the end of the regular season, lets take a look at what the Angels are getting for their money:

A combined batting split of:

.243/.287/.397 for an OPS of .684 which is an OPS+ of just 85

Also a WAR of NEGATIVE 1.2

And they still are on the hook to pay this dude $87 million over the next 3 years when he will only get worse as he transitions into his late 40's/early 50's

the Angels

But he had 100 RBIs last year so he was better than Harper

He has slipped and said his real age before, right? What is he, 41 right now?

Anytime I want to illustrate the uselessness of RBIs, Albert Pujols’ 2017 season is Exhibit A.

He inadvertently admitted to it in a round about way if I remember correctly

Their bad on deciding to pay him for what he accomplished for the Cardinals, while he was clearly already on the decline.

I think most serious baseball fans know who the OP is referring to, but I think adding his name might be a good idea

??Hmm. Let's go through this timeline. 28 year ago would make it 1990. If Pujols was born in 1980, which is what every public record says, then that would make him around 10 years old, not 12 or 13.

He then, of course, doubled down, saying that Dotel is "three or four" years older than he is. Dotel is 44. Seems like Pujols, in the interest of opening up late in his career, simply pulled the curtain down on things he'd previously claimed.

Worse job building around an all-time great talent: Angels with Mike Trout or Rangers with A-Rod?

Angels because ARod was at $25 mil per. Trout had team friendly contract for long time.

Although not as much money, it’s still worth mentioning that the Mets are still paying Bobby Bonilla $1.2M per year, and will do so until 2035. By then, Bonilla will have been retired 34 years.

Being a cardinals fan I love Pujols for what he did for our franchise but thank god we balked at that contact he wanted.

Dude, bonilla deal isn't jack shite compared to Bruce sutter

Sutter is getting $45 million over the 36 year life of the deal.

Bonilla’s deferment arrangement totals only $29.8 million.
