App State over Michigan /thread
In hindsight, it wasn't the worst.

Hell, the old dominion win on saturday may have been worse.

They were 0-3 and lost to liberty 52-10.

APP state 2007 beats OD 2018 by 3+ touchdowns.

As I said on the rant in another thread, App St Michigan and Stanford USC are in the tier one upsets. The prestige of the program being beaten matters.

ETA - no one will remember the ODU loss in 5 years

That isn’t even the Aggies most embarrassing loss

But shouldn't the "biggest upset" be reserved for a team that was legitimately great?

If Michigan had run the table after losing to app state, then it would be worst of all time.

But the next week, oregon came to town and won 39-7.

Ended the regular season getting demolished by wisc and osu.

Legitimately great teams don't lose to far inferior teams. If they do, they cease to be legitimately great teams. They obviously never were. Your argument makes no sense.

Last year the 10 year anniversary was a major story in itself. Time has only crystallized it more. It was a watershed moment of sorts.

These teams don’t get beat because they’re legit.

UM being upset is top 3 because they were still a solid program, going 9-4 that season, winning their bowl game vs Florida and finished #18.

Face the facts Michigan man

I didn't mean Vegas odds (that really doesn't mean anything) - or a lesser school subdivision, game could be close.

But a game. A game deficit and collapse. I mean a loss not based on rankings or opponent who could be even with you in some upset...but where you totally let a team back from annihlation do the impossible on that day.

Aggy had 12 minutes to secure a 34 point lead.

That's the worst loss...a total demoralization. Appy State may have won but Michigan was never up by 34 points in the 4th quarter - I don't think they were ever up by 7.

USC was never up by 34 points over Stanford and lost in the 4th quarter. Stanford was always within 1 TD...the entire game.

Aggy lost a 34-point lead with 12-minutes to go against a team that could barely muster a FG for 30 minutes.

Appy State and Stanford weren't getting blown out.

It was a 1 TD game for almost the entire game in those games.

Vegas and public got it wrong. That does not make it a great loss.

Upset yes.

But greatest loss?

You have to be totally destroying a team and you lose.

Aggy had about a 99% win Percentage near the end of the 3rd quarter.

Probably a 90% win percentage to start the 4th quarter.
