NBA analyst Kenny Smith has uttered yet another controversial statement that will definitely raise the eyebrows of die-hard basketball fans. Smith placed Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James in the 10th spot on his All-Time Top 10 while the late Kobe Bryant is not even in it.

Smith spoke with Complex Sports in their Load Management podcast where shared his All-Time Top 10. The hosts were caught off guard when he ranked LeBron James in the last spot. Smith wasn’t entirely sure where he’ll put Bryant, but he’s confident that he isn’t within the Top 10. Smith defended his case:

“It’s so much easier to score now that it makes it hard to judge a guy’s ability.”

The Jet’s going to get a lot of hate by LeKnights and Kobestans, but he’s a big reason why Inside the NBA is the most respected and well liked studio show in sports landscape.

The Jump does more reporting, usually, but Inside has excellent in game analysis and macro commentary on the league.

(LeBron is about #7th on my own list, so I’m more of a LeBron guy than The Jet).

I mean, he has to be top 5.

The 5 best players of all-time are Michael at #1, then however you want to order Magic, Bird, Lebron and Wilt.

This seems about right. Yeah, it sucks that he died, but he is in the 10-15 range.

That’s a pretty piss poor nostalgic list of the greatest. Having Lebron outside the top 3-4 is ludicrous.

Kobe being ranked outside the top 10 isn't outrageous at all. Statistically, he isn't a top 10 player of all-time. Now LeBron OTOH should be ranked a lot higher than #10. He's a top 5 if not top 3 player of all-time.

DK why people rank Magic this high, outside of the early 80s when he thrived in the McAdoo smallball 1-3-1 trap, dude was a defensive liability most of his career, Shaq over Kareem? CMON Kobe over Bird, this dude trippin

I think LeBron and Wilt should be tied for the same place since their careers were more glass half-full when it came to team accomplishments despite all the great stats they submitted

Agreed. LeBron is #2 for me, with a realistic shot at surpassing MJ.

Magic’s career is pretty astonishing but yes, Kareem over Shaq and Bird over Kobe (Duncan over Shaq too)

That can be true and hes still wrong about Lebron. He's firmly 2 all time at worst.

It's really difficult to rank active players. You have to project where they fit and will finish. If James plays 5 more seasons and becomes a shell of what he was (ala Wade and Bryant). How is that going to tarnish his legacy?

Don't get me wrong, he definitely deserves top 5 all-time and certainly over LeBron because he won 5 titles in a short period of time (should've been 6) which is almost double what LeBron can claim TOTAL despite both played in the universally-recognized weaker conference during their respective eras

I was actually thinking i was going to read a lot more disagreement about Duncan being on the list than where LeBron is at.

Look, I can’t stand LeBron. Can’t stand his whining and flopping around like a child on the court. But it’s hard to ignore his accomplishments. He’s definitely Top 5. I’ll give him that. But Duncan THAT far above LeBron in this overall list?

Crazy.

5 rings though

One thing I always ask people who rank LeBron #2, what puts him above KAJ?
