Because Steve Kerr didn’t take that game winning shot in game 6 of 97 huh?

One can make a logical argument for either guy, no question at this point.

quote:

A sort of mythical deity in a sense

But this right here is why so many think Lebron is nowhere near MJ, because because as you stated we've created this mythical narrative where MJ never played a bad game or missed a big shot in the playoffs.

quote:

Take last night, another in a long string of examples in a growing sample size. Lebron gave up the ball in the game winning scenario in a closeout game of the finals. His team lost and it may just be a footnote in some sports almanac years from now but it was uncharacteristic for a Jordan-esq player. Looking back at some of the recent greats even Kobe comes to mind, no chance anyone but the mamba takes that shot. Same with Jordan in iconic scenarios we hold in such high regard
And there's the myth in play by the OP.

Ignore the countless times MJ did pass the ball and say MJ would never pass the ball there!!!

Never in the finals.

Why does he get extra credit for losing before he gets there? If he would have made it to an additional finals and lost would be be worse despite literally being better?

The logic is terrifyingly stupid

But your overall premise is accurate. Jordan was a killer. And he refused to let his teams lose
Except for when they lost.

Or except for when they had their backs against the wall and he played awful and his teammate bailed him out.

Other than that, MJ never lost, they myth is real!!!

That’s a great point B, I forgot to note the load management in his time at Miami and second run in Cleveland. That he didn’t play the full 82 game schedule

Also didn't take 2 years off and played has played in the finals many more times. His total career minutes played including playoffs has to be up there.

That fact that Lebrons first trip to finals is counted as a “finals loss” against him is proof of the MJ homerism. 19 year old carried a team to the finals and went up against the Spurs in their heyday. But nevermind all that. He lost in the finals!! What a loser!!

Or you can go off what actually happened - and Jordan made the same kind of plays where he passed to guys like Paxson/Kerr etc for GW shots in the playoffs and finals.

Those guys were light years better shooters than the scrub LeBron passed to last night.

No player has jumped from stack team to stack team either. No player has ever played on two separate super teams.

You think Paxson was a better 3pt shooter than Danny Green? Lol

Here's the thing, LeBron scored 40 while shooting 71%, along with 13 rebounds. Yet people will still blame him for losing that game. He drove to the whole and had 3 defenders on him, meanwhile a 3-point specialist is sitting at the 3 absolutely wide open. Lebron kicking it out was 100% the correct play. The real frickup was whatever Marcus Morris did.

I guess this is where I found the troll. In Cleveland he played 69-76-74-82 games in regular season and then of course all the way to the finals all 4 years. He had similar numbers in Miami. Lebron missed a few games here or there but he was never a load management guy in his career. Even in LA.

Only someone with an IQ low enough to require wearing a rubber helmet would prefer their star taking a contested shot in a double team with 2 collapsing help-side defenders than pass to a wide open teammate.

With Bam closing out in front lmao. What an idiot

Of course it was

The people who think otherwise fall into some combo o these 3 camps: They blindly hate Lebron, they don't understand basketball, & they think MJ would never pass the ball in that scenario despite all the times MJ passed the ball in that scenario.

Lebron had 4 guys converge on him and he passed to a 37% 3 point shooter with 20 feet between him and the nearest defender.

It was the right play 10 times out of 10.

biggest mistake Danny made was not sinking into the paint for an 8 ft bunny. he was that wide open. luckiest game I've ever seen from heatles in tourney history. they had 3 possessions where they walked with 14 pts total lol. phantom charge calls on washed. duncan's neighborhood made 7 3s lmao.

next game will be funny and the tradcons will crawl back into their little holes again
