Lebron isn’t MJ, but that’s ok. His legacy has been remarkable as well

You have to feel for Lebron in a sense that he has been compared to the greatest to ever do it since adolescence. When I was 17 I was smoking weed after school and eating Taco Bell, much less being compared to the greatest player of all time.
So maybe it should come as no surprise that mj set a standard to which no one could ever match. A sort of mythical deity in a sense. That every moment has to be perfect, that every shot has to be a winning one.
Take last night, another in a long string of examples in a growing sample size. Lebron gave up the ball in the game winning scenario in a closeout game of the finals. His team lost and it may just be a footnote in some sports almanac years from now but it was uncharacteristic for a Jordan-esq player. Looking back at some of the recent greats even Kobe comes to mind, no chance anyone but the mamba takes that shot. Same with Jordan in iconic scenarios we hold in such high regard.
Lebron will still go down as one of the best to ever play the game. A champion among the basketball Mount Rushmore who didn’t completely fold under the pressure of being compared to mj. But maybe the comparison needs to stop. He will never be Jordan, but he has created his own special legacy that will live in basketball lore forever.

Sure if you go by the exaggerated folktale of Jordan that has been developed through decades of selective nostalgic memories.
Or you can go off what actually happened - and Jordan made the same kind of plays where he passed to guys like Paxson/Kerr etc for GW shots in the playoffs and finals.

Except that Jordan dished the game winning shot in two of six championships (Paxton, 1993 and Kerr, 1997)
But your overall premise is accurate. Jordan was a killer. And he refused to let his teams lose.

You could say similar about Lebron deferring to Bosh or Ray Allen in his time at Miami as well

Kerr, Paxson, etc hit game winners in cases where mike didn’t take the last shot. Lebron made the correct play. You are right he will never pass mike, but it isn’t bc he passes to wide open teammates. He will never pass mike bc at both players peaks, Mike was pretty clearly the better player. Lebron has him on longevity, but that is in no small part due to his performance enhancer intake.

That’s a great point B, I forgot to note the load management in his time at Miami and second run in Cleveland. That he didn’t play the full 82 game schedule

He did that 10 years ago

He should finish the job this year. If he adds one more after that, I think he is 1 and 1A with MJ due to the championships in multiple cities and longevity. Also, at that point, I think he gets credit for the extra finals appearances. It's better to lose in the finals than earlier, but people on this board don't seem to understand that.

He didn’t and never will. No one has played the game of basketball better than mike at this peak. that makes him the greatest.

Never in the finals.
Why did he do that?

Took time to make pippen a title worthy Rodman. Mike had to work
Him in practice for years. Bron didn’t have that same ability to make his teammates better. So he ran off to join the best super team he could find.

MJ may have been better than lebron, but no individual in any team sports history has proven they can bring tittles to multiple places like Lebron
