That's the only variable? Not the difficulty of the conference playoffs or how many great players that you have with you?

All the factors you mention favor James.

Dame Lillard has faced more All NBA players in these playoffs than LeBron James did in the East from 2011-2018.

This is sort of how I see it.

LeBron faced weaker Eastern opponents, MJ faced weaker finals opponents. So, you'd expect LeBron to make the finals more vs weaker comp and MJ to win more once in the finals vs weaker comp.

And that's pretty much what happened.

The teams Michael Jordan faced in the finals were weaker than the teams LeBron faced.

There's a pretty good amount of statistical data on this, and as someone who watched both eras, it really shouldn't be debatable.

LeBron got the Warriors four times, and they were better than any finals opponent MJ faced.

The worst team either faced is 2011 Mavericks...& we saw how that turned out.
But as I’ve said, the real debate is still MJ vs Kareem. LeBron is still below them.

Lebron’s 9th toughest finals opponent (Dallas) is way tougher than Jordan’s 9th toughest (N/A).

Ehh, that Mavs team was playing ball at a higher level than the 91 Lakers or 96 Sonics.

The Bulls were the better team in all six finals, and won. LeBron's teams got the expected outcome in seven of nine finals, IMO.

The Heat should have beaten the Mavs in 2011. The Warriors should have beaten the Cavs in 2016. LeBron flipped one finals he should have lost and lost one finals he should have won.

Miami should have lost in 2013, but they came back to beat San Antonio.

I think they were still slightly better at that point. Wade was declining and Kawhi was improving, and personally I think SA wasn't better until 13-14.

That isn't a crazy take, though. The margin was razor thin in 2013.

The Sonics had 3 top 35 players at that point. They were good.

I’ll give you the Lakers, considering Worthy’s injury. Bulls had knocked off the back to back champs and then the 5 time champion Lakers.

I’d say K-L-L Cavs @ full strength were better than the pre Durant Dubs, but injuries happen and Dubs were far better coached, Curry a better leader.

I think The Heatles have no excuse in 11. After ‘13, on the heels of a back to back, to get their shite pushed in by a “run it back” team speaks volumes about both teams competitive drive...
And blaming a game on how hot the building is pathetic.

But that’s just my opinion

Payton and Kemp were good, but Payton was a bit short of his prime at that point. Dirk > Kemp by a good margin in comparing the Mavs.

Magic was still good for that Lakers team, but the remainder of the roster was either past their prime (Scott, Worthy and Perkins) or too young (Vlade).

We'll have to agree to disagree on that GS team. They won 73 games. As they're currently demonstrating, they have an ability to play team ball without Durant that makes them exceptional. Iggy, Livingston and Green were all closer to their prime in 2016.

The '14 Spurs put up an all time elite scoring margin in the regular season while regularly resting key players. They were even better in the playoffs. It speaks more to what happens when a team full of role players about to retire goes against one of the greatest teams ever.

Harrison Barnes was effectively nuked.

The Cavs team in 15 played most of the series without Kyrie and Love.
LeBron still played defense.

That team is vastly underrated, I think to push the standard narrative that LeBron James does it all by himself.

The 16 team is proof of how great they were. Kyrie was unbelievable.
