They should use a smaller font next time.

"For me, genetics is only 20% responsible for peak performance."
Interesting quote from that piece. I don't agree with it. Genetics is far more important. Genetics may only be 20% after you've already selected for elite pro riders, because you have a ceiling effect. But in the overall population, that is worth far more than 20%.

quote:pitiful. I am on the email list for Joe Martin and they struggled hard this year. Literally sent weekly emails begging for more riders and they even had to combine cats and cut the race back a day just to put it on this year. Doesn't look good.
Joe Martin stage race left and who knows how long those will continue to last.

I can see it. As someone who has ridden in probably 50+ centuries with local police support and about as many road races over the years it always amazed me how angry people would get.
The TN racing schedule was literally about 1-2 road races a month, starting early as frick on Saturday mornings on some quiet off-the-beaten path. Still pissed drivers off.
To me TTs and crits will always be far and away the less desirable races. I would almost always load up my gear and head home after the road race because it was just so much more fun instead of hanging around all weekend just to crash in a crit.
Where is the damn wiz? I would love to hear his thoughts as the resident TD cycling God.

Yeah there's the old saying usually applied to doping but it works in general too: You can't make a racehorse out of a donkey.

Ask the OT how they would feel if a bike race got between them and a Bucees.

Someone is going down today.
How no one went down in that is incredible. That was so intense.

Almost! Philipsen is truly the new sprint god. 4 out of 5 sprint stages so far. Unreal.
Also who is that black French cat? He is ALWAYS in the front group during sprint stages at the end but can never pull it off. He's a great sprinter though.

He isn't French. He is from Eritrea. He is a very good classics sprinter and has the capability to outsprint MVDP and WVA on a hardman's course.

Philipsen is just faster at this point. Impressive so far.

He is impressive for sure. Been in the lead group during every sprint finish

Road racing is effectively dead in the US. As of now we have Tour of Gila and Joe Martin stage race left and who knows how long those will continue to last.
NICA and regional mountain-bike races are pretty popular, at least out West.
I know gravel is popular, always wanted to show up to a gravel ride or race in a shirt or sweater like this:

"There are two races. A race with two aliens, and a race with the rest of the peloton.”
That’s how Groupama-FDJ’s veteran manager Marc Madiot described the Tour de France after the first flurry of GC fireworks last week.
Like Madiot suggested, there’s a chasm between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar and “the rest” at this year’s Tour.
Is the reporter that dumb? Everyone knows what that means when a rider is referred to as an ET or alien and it's not to celebrate their ride.

He looks to have all the talent in the world but his placing in a bunch sprint is honestly terrible, leaves himself too far back and faces traffic/gets cut off almost every time. Even his 3rd place he allowed himself timo get cut off

Looks like he has a lead out ‘team’ of one guy that disappears quickly. Just not an uber talented team it seems. Would love to see him win a sprint stage.
Now that Cav is out I’d love to see Sagan get one more before road retiring but he just doesn’t have the horse he did 5-6 years ago.

This is his first tour. Let him get some clean air with 150 to go and you will see what he can do. He dusted MVDP last year in a sprint in the giro and he won a major semi-classic this year or last I can’t remember. He’s a rising start to watch out for and he is young. 23-24 something like that.
Also won a stage of Tour de Suisse this year. Anyways he’s a dude.

Oh hey it’s the French complaining about how their teams are behind the times in every facet of world tour cycling. Fun fact not a single French rider has won a world tour level stage race since its inception (10+ years).
