Yep. Jasper is def the strongest. Mark is there though. He can absolutely win a stage

He can.

I legitimately thought Carlton Kirby on Eurosport was going to keel over from excitement before they crossed the line when Cav hit the front.

MVDP/Phillipsen remind me of Morkov/Cav in 2021. Sprint perfection

Wonder if he wins in Paris? That would be nuts

Did Cav shut it down early when Jasper pulled in front? Looks like he sat down, maybe I’m mistaken.

I thought maybe Cav started too soon and gassed, but I don't really know.

Cav said his gears jumped which was why he sat down. Although not sure if he still wins but it is way closer.

said it before and i'll say it again; campy will ALWAYS let you down.

i ripped campy off 2 of my racing bikes and never had another mechanical on the road again.

shimano never ever ever failed me.

whatever the case, i would be FURIOUS if i was in cav's position and lost due to a mechanical. slipping a gear during a monster world-stage sprint should never happen. you're competing for milliseconds and a slipped gear is an insurmountable failure.

that was cav's stage to win. maybe he'll get another shot but damn, impressive he's still in the mix.

i take back my words. old man strength

Was it the electronic shifting? I've never had a bike without wires.

same. i like the feel of pulling cable; i'm as big a geek as anyone but never made the switch to wired/wireless eletronic shifting vs cables.

couple that with the fact the big names in these grand tours sometimes get exclusive components that are not market tested and you're looking at a recipe for disaster.

i'll be following this story with great interest to find out what component group cav was running and if the battery/signal/electronic component factored in.

i saw a rider in the giro a couple weeks back reach down and manually flick the rear derailleur going 35mph when he had a failure due to a battery problem. i think that would cure me of depending on electronics in a big race.

Pretty sure that was Sepp Kuss. On a descent nonetheless. That was intense.

I assume it is the new campy eps.

He is on the newest DA DI2.

that doesn't look stock

eta rep the bling for the crowds but slip into a tested component group when you're racing.

anyone got a closeup of his rear derailleur during the sprint?

I'm not sure I'm really liking the shade of green they're using this year for the green jersey.

Just saw highlights of the race. Can Jasper not sprint in a straight line? That's at least twice now.
