La Tech question

I'm an LSU fan and alum, but I've always supported the state schools in the past. I just noticed their basketball team is 25-3 and ranked (wow, congrats to the Bulldogs). Combined with their last football season, they're having a great year.
Really a couple questions- are they a lock for the NCAAs (I would guess yes)? Would the recent bowl gaffe (not going to a bowl despite hanging around the top 25 most of the season) help or hurt them with seeding- might there be some sentiment to "make it up to them" for being left out?
I know Tech is actually to blame for not going bowling, but how much of an impact, perception-wise, did that have for the program overall?

Nominating this an official "Hate on La Tech" thread.

Football's mistake has zero meaning to the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.

Other than bullshite "major/midmajor" designations, football has no bearing on basketball.
It's fun to pick on La Tech and joke about how they would turn down a bid if the seed wasn't what they want, but realistically, that won't happen.
By the way, I think the bowl SNAFU was a series of missed communications; however, it was still hilarious given the attitude of your typical La Tech internet fan.

Take Butler or Gonzaga- I don't know where they play football, but they somehow made a small bowl, I would be a little more interested (hey, I know that school's name) than, say, Northern Illinois.

To the OP:
Tech will need to win the conference tournament to get in. The Virginia win last night helped seal that deal.

Butler plays FCS football and Gonzaga plays none...

Why do LaTech fans hate LSU so much?

I don't think Tech fans hate LSU as much as they hate the bandwagon. No problem with LSU grads who support their school and we hope they do well. We just need more support in North La to take the program to the next level and the casual fans who have never attended a class at LSU are travelling down to Baton Rouge instead of Ruston. More of a resentment than hate.
