Tech seems to be all-in on MBB these days, which is a smart move because the state has room for a solid program in that sport.
With this hire...WBB loses money anyway. Why not take the risk and get some 'pub?

The blue hairs are loyal to the Lady Techsters.

The techsters and the vols wrote most of the history of women's college basketball.

La Techs glory days in womens basketball are way way gone.
The last chance they had to return to even a semblence of their glory days in womens BB went out with Kim Mulkey.
Back when Barmore was winnging big at La Tech, the big colleges were not even on the radar in womens BB. A Tech could go after the big recruits without much competition from the big schools.
Now, a mid-major like La Tech is competing with the big schools for the talent.
The big schools can offer a talented kid a lot more than a school stuck out in the middle of the hills of Lincoln parish.

This hire is a damn shame. And, what makes it worse is you kick a legendary alum to the curb for a 23 y/o who was just a grad asst? I don't give a damn who his mama his. This hire is a mess and this kid doesn't deserve this job. He hasn't earned a damn thing.
A person of color won't get this type of job at 23.

Give me one example of a 23 year old person of color getting a head coaching job at a major program.

Give me one example of any 23 year getting a head coaching job at a major program. This is extremely rare no matter how you slice it. Stop whining.

i can only give you one example of it happening to a white person (if you wanna call la tech women's bball a major program, and yes i know their history). there are a lot more white coaches than coaches of color. it's a rare thing that happened to occur. has nothing to do with color, obviously.

Proportionate to the amount of people in the population?

You can say whatever you want. It is race and privilege that has gotten this kid a job that he is totally and completely unqualified for.

I even felt that Jason Kidd was unqualified to be named as head coach of the Nets. But, Kidd will be in the NBA Hall of Fame. A career that Kidd made himself. Pat Summit's kid hasn't done ANYTHING besides be Pat Summit's son.

No more so than John Thompson III being the coach at Georgetown.

JTIII had been a player at Princeton, an asst at Princeton, and had taken Princeton to the NCAA tourney...all before being named G'Town's head coach.
Thompson is the son of John Thompson, Jr. (Georgetown's head coach from 1972 to 1999), and a 1988 graduate of Princeton. Thompson, whose nickname is JT3, served as an assistant coach at Princeton under head coaches Pete Carril and Bill Carmody from 1995 through 2000. After being promoted to head coach, he compiled a 68–42 record with the Tigers from 2000 to 2004 and guided the team to three Ivy League championships, two NCAA tournament appearances, and one NIT tournament appearance. Three of his players earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors.

68-42 at Princeton warrants the HC job at Georgetown? He got that job because of his Daddy.

im sure it's not proportionate but why is this a problem? it's always why aren't there more black coaches or why aren't there more black players in MLB?
why aren't there more white players in the NBA?
they both have the same answer and there isn't any racism or bullshite involved. the people that get the jobs and make it in those sports are better than the people who don't.

You talking about his record as HC at Princeton...a place with no athletic scholarships versus someone who doesn't even have a head coaching record yet he was named a head coach. Please...
