I was talking to a High School AD yesterday about the up coming season and he was not optimistic on any level.

The LHSAA rules for summer workouts are a joke. Voluntary compliance . No guidance on when the season might start or for that matter, whether there will be school in the Fall.

We are "fricking over these kids" was his comment. " we fricked over this year's seniors and it looks like we are ready to do the same this year."

He was not complimentary of the governor, the BESE Board , the LHSAA or the Superintendent. "They don't really give a shite about these kids- any of them whether it is athletes or nonathlete students." He's disgusted, the coaches are disgusted.

The whole safety issue....What if a kid dies of Covid because of attending a game I asked. " Then that kid might be the first, a kid has a better chance of being hit by a car in a parking lot." He said.

The LHSAA has done a very poor job of clearly communicating timelines and processes. They’re just kind of making it all up as they go is what it seems like. Someone sent me an email that LHSAA sent out with instructions on how to clean the virus off of soccer balls during practice and games

It's hard to envision football this fall at any level, given Karen concerns (1) and threat of potential lawsuits (2).

I imagine no one who even rarely posts on TD wants that in the least, but just a hunch.

I don’t think anyone should be surprised by the LHSAA doing a poor job.

I think with football dollars will win out. Schools will face budget short falls without football. It will be more so on the college level but I’m sure high schools will feel some pinch as well.

Apple, Spotify and others are clearly trying to push the covid narrative so hard.

Hopefully the people don’t fall for it. Covid isn’t that deadly and is not a reason to shut life down.

I don’t see how covid lawsuits would work since its hard to pin down all the potential places you could get it. You don’t see people suing over getting the flu.

I said this on a thread a few weeks ago when asked about hs football. I spoke with some admins at 2 diff schools here in mississippi. And they said the june 1st "back to sports" date was bs that was said to please the crowd. That he did not see any way we would ever be ready for football. That it would surprise him if we had it... that if there was hs fb, would be no fans allowed. And even then that wouldnt work, because schools couldnt afford to run lights and pay refs with no admissions. Football is most the schools moneymaker each year.

I mean, he is right.

The restrictions being placed on kids during all of this is absolutely nuts. It isn't just a Louisiana issue. It is happening everywhere.

Liberals believe in science until it comes to Covid, fetal development in the womb, or biology of gender

I have been in the (covid is the flu) boat from the get go. But the whole kids restrictions are because they can spread it without symptoms to others.. parents, grandparents, etc. It isnt really for the kids safety.

If we can all go to Lowes when it is packed, then kids should be able to go to a playground or play baseball with their friends.

I don't buy the government's reasoning at all, anymore.

uh might wanna ask the schools that have to go to the LHSAA office next week and plead their case. The rules were put in place by the principals

they are playing baseball now..... \

as for summer workouts.. I didn't see my coaches from end of school until first week of august..... each year.. and if you were motivated you worked out and conditioned on your own and showed up ready to go.. if not... that was on the individual. I would not have played having to go to summer workouts all summer.

Speaking to this, all tickets have a ton of small-print agreements that people rarely, if ever, read. Can adding language to football tickets on all levels (and concerts, movies, etc...) waiving the right to sue the school, school board, whatever entity over COVID legally insulate them? Or would that only cover adults since children can’t legally enter into “a contract?”

I’m not even sure that language has much teeth, anyway, but maybe a lawyer can weigh in. If so, maybe only sell tickets to adults and they would have to be responsible for any children they get tickets for. Student tickets couldn’t be sold without a parental waiver, etc...Logistically, it would be a pain, but worth it if it could actually work. The LHSAA’s lawyers could write the language that would be mandated for all its members’ tickets.

It's a real thing sadly. My kid had a high school workout yesterday. They all used balls provided by the coach, no personal ones. During each break the kids would go to the side and sit in their little personal bubble space since they can't be close. Then some guy walked out and sprayed down each ball

Now, the kids aren't doing anything but individual drills, and weren't sharing or even passing at that point, so I have no idea what the spraying is supposed to do. It's just bizarre "security theater" to me, it looks good for the helicopter parents who want to make sure their babies are protected I guess

I have sons that are now doing voluntary workouts and they are trying to stay positive but its tough for them.

They are not stupid and they see what is going on with the pro leagues and the state. They are not only doubting the football season will happen but they are doubting they will return to campus for the fall. The last thing they want is more remote learning.

The LHSAA is never going to be able to say they can have games and fans when the pro and college leagues wont.

They all work in concert...ready shoot, aim. The pricipals take their cue from the superintendent who takes his cue from the State and ultimately the governor.

A lot of these kids do not have access to weight rooms etc in good times when aeay for the summer unless they go to the school. Right now, since March they have not had access to that or even private gyms

We are going to screw 2 whole classes of kids and possibly a third all to protect maw maw and paw paw in the nursing home.

minus MLB, aren't all pro leagues planning on having their seasons? I think there will be HS football. The only question I have is how many fans will be allowed to attend.

With what is going on with the NBA and I not sure they are going to play or not. They have agreed but with the recent events being led by Irving, its kinda like the NBA is waiting on an answer from LeBron and the Lakers.

The college football season is very much in doubt. There is no concrete information from the NCAA or schools for that matter. I read on the site that Mississippi state has 4 plans for the upcoming season. Kinda hard to think they are going to play with planning going on like that.

As for the NFL who knows what is going on with it. With all thats going on with the protests half the league could decide to not play.
