The Bidwills WOULD choose not to extend 1 of only 4-5 QBs EVER to lead that franchise to the PLAYOFFS by now, that’s why the Cards are the Cards

He’s likely going to be battling injuries every year also.

Screw Kyler Murray. He'll never be a superbowl qb.

What a ridiculous statement. He may not end up making a Super Bowl, but there have been some totally shite guys play the position in that game.

teams that pay QBs huge money aren't winning Super Bowls. I'm amazed that GMs haven't figured this out yet.
they know. they also know something you dont seem to know. gms aren't trying to win super bowls. gms are trying to make money. the nfl is guess what? a business. they invest in qbs to profit off qbs, not win super bowls. super bowls help make profit but it's not in the top 3 ways.

. He took less so they could keep the roster stocked. I'm surprised other QBs don't do this.
he took less that helped keep one extra solid white wr. let's not act like the discount paid for 5 guys. it paid for part of one wr each year. secondly, he wouldn't have done that had his wife not been making $50m a year.

Exactly.

Brady is married to a woman worth over 400 million. He didn’t need the money anyways. Lot easier to give up 5-10 mill a year when you have a nice fall back plan.

If any GM ever comes out and admits this, they should be fired and banned for life from working in the NFL. If you aren't trying to win a Super Bowl, then what are you doing?

I doubt a GM has much input or cares much about profit, outside of what actual cash they have to ask the owners to pull out of pocket for bigger salaries/cap management. It’s not as though teams pocket any left over cap space as profit.

But your original point is correct in that not every move is made with a Super Bowl in mind, nor should it be. I mean first off that’s just not really a healthy way to build a long term contending team. And these GMs are real people with families and real people who don’t want to lose their job so you have to have some level of self perseverance in that role, taking a flyer on X player with some weird off the field issues may seem like a no brainer move, but the GM is the one who has to answer to it when it blows up in a teams face

So do the Cards try to move him? Or do they give him an albatross of a contract that they’ll ultimately regret in 3 years?

Yes it should. Not every move should be a win now move, but every transaction should be made with building a long term Super Bowl contender in mind.

If Arizona extends Murray at $45M/year for the next 5-6 years or so, they will never get beyond the divisional round and probably won't win a playoff game. That would be a failure of an extension.

He’s not worth it IMO. Very mentally weak. Teams need to start figuring out how to evaluate players mentally

I'm still waiting on a team to try cycling through QBs on rookie contracts so they can keep the rest of their roster loaded. It would be an interesting experiment. There is a trend where QBs get paid a ridiculous amount of money and their Super Bowl window immediately slams shut.

Would be amazing to see a team try this

Not sure what's to regret since they never make the playoffs
