Colt McCoy is ready!
This is why QBs still have all the leverage in the world.

Seems like he has it in his head that baseball would be an easy and profitable fallback for him. Really curious what a deal would look like for someone his age who hasn’t played professionally for several year
Whatever offer he could get in baseball wouldn’t be close to what he would make on his current deal.

Been making this argument for a while now. Draft QBs all the time even if you have a young one.
Unless you get the apex (Mahomes, Watson, Allen, etc.) Just recycle them.
There is a direct correlation between QB salaries and Super Bowl winners whether anyone wants to admit it or not. As in, teams that pay QBs huge money aren't winning Super Bowls. I'm amazed that GMs haven't figured this out yet.

Murray is good, but I’m not making him the newest highest-paid QB in the NFL, which is surely what he expects from his next contract.

Same reason some teams are using analytics to try to win a game. This isn't fantasy football. Analytics don't work.

Dedicating 25% of your salary cap to one player is a horribly inefficient use of resources. The biggest reason New England was so good for so long that no one ever talks about is that Brady never reset the market on QB contracts. He took less so they could keep the roster stocked. I'm surprised other QBs don't do this.
I also believe there's a chance that New England made it up to him by paying him some under the table too, but that's for another thread.

Yes. I screamed about this the last few years with dak. I knew if we extended him that any chance of winning a super bowl was shot.
Now if Dak demanded less cash, then hell yeah, sign the man up, but that never happens in these situations. Agents and players push to get every dollars and will complain about how the team lacks weapons in a couple of years and demand a trade or some shite.

Sell to the highest bidder and let them guarantee Murray $45M a year. That's the fastest way to guarantee your team won't win a Super Bowl for the foreseeable future.
Yea they should let him go to a division rival if they really dont believe he's worth it. Then hey can saddle that team with him for years into the future

Since when did they start hosting the AFC championship in round one?

GM's have figured out teams with shitty QB's don't win SB's either.

I'd rather have a shitty QB on a cheap deal than a decent QB making $35M+/year.
Over the next five years, I'll set the O/U on Browns number of total playoff games at 3.5 and playoff wins at 1.5. I'd take the under on both. That Watson contract is going to cripple their roster.

You’ve seen it start with shipping Hill and not resigning Mathieu. It will continue to deplete their roster, but probably not as bad as Dak’s contract will. I believe Mahomes is somewhat team friendly(er) in terms of cap hit. And by that I mean he still bogs the cap down, but I believe his cap hit is less than $30 mil this year. It also rises the next few years, peaks and then the hit decreases on the back end substantially.

Having a good QB making a bunch of money and losing in the divisional round doesn't get you fired. Letting a good qb go and replacing him with a bad one definitely will.

What we need to find is a QB capable of winning 7 titles, can play until he's 45, and is married to a supermodel that makes more him. Get on it, scouts!

This is almost a big a joke as him measuring 5’10 at the combine. Someone got rich reporting that lie as official.

The winning formula is out there. Brady is the only one who was willing to help his team by taking significantly less money. I'm sure he more than made up for it with endorsements, and because he was willing to give back a little to New England, they rewarded him by surrounding him with loaded rosters.
Now he has still made more money than he could spend in 3 lifetimes AND his teams were always great.
