Per Tom Pelissero. Twitter

Murray has been stirring this pot since early February.

He is a supremely talented QB physically, but he seems like a very mentally weak person, which affects his ability to lead his team through any kind of adversity.

If you’re the Cardinals, do you call his bluff and punt the 2022 season? or do you mortgage the team’s future and sign Murray to a lengthy contract worth $40-50M a year?

It just so happens that Murray and Mayfield are close friends. He could be getting some bitter advice from Baker’s camp.

Also, obligatory:

The whole “sit out the whole season” threat is a pretty empty one. It would only keep him under the cards control for longer as his contract would not toll (and showing up after 10 games doesn’t work anymore to get around this)

If they want to be stuck losing in round 1 every year then be my guest. That’s usually what happens when QB’s get their mega deal and demand top money.

I know because it’s already happened to Dallas and is happening in KC

Pretty sure this is not the case

I feel like they could get a king’s ransom if they traded him. He is what he is, and his athleticism, while elite, isn’t the difference-maker at the NFL level that it was in college.

What did they change this to?

I may have misremembered the CBA details on second look, or they’ve clarified them since then.

The 6 game thing is still a rule but you automatically lose a year of accrual if you miss more than 5 TC practices in a hold out. I guess he could show up for camp and then hold out for 10 games.

I’d still say the chances of him actually doing that is slim to none, as is the case for most of these holdout threats. Especially as a QB, there’s hardly any risk in playing (see Daks injury and subsequent insane payday anyway)

Why do I feel like the Tennessee Titans might make a move for him?

Carolina should be the frontrunner. They are desperate and Tepper will overpay to get him.

I don't like the direction the NFL is going with the trade demands and whining about contracts. I loathe NBA stars who do this bullshite and the leagues need to step up and stop it somehow. It is the key reason why I stopped watching the NBA. The NFL needs to stop letting the tail wag the dog.

I’m not sure how you expect them to prevent players from using the leverage at their disposal to get better deals for themselves.

The cards still have him potentially under their control for another 5 seasons before he could actually have the freedom to choose a different team. The dog is still very much wagging the tail

I’ve seen some smoke that the Eagles are very interested, which we should all root for, since Kyler would love the fans and media there, and vice versa.

I wonder what kind of deal he thinks he should get.

You know it has to bother him that he saw how much money Watson just got and he didn't even play a down last year.

And leave it to Kliff's coaching ability to keep them winning. UH OH

Another change was previously the fines levied against players holding out were almost always ‘forgiven’ and the player wouldn’t have to pay.

Now those fines are mandatory and there is no possible forgiveness down the line.

Seems like he has it in his head that baseball would be an easy and profitable fallback for him. Really curious what a deal would look like for someone his age who hasn’t played professionally for several years

Sell to the highest bidder and let them guarantee Murray $45M a year. That's the fastest way to guarantee your team won't win a Super Bowl for the foreseeable future.

I'm still waiting on a team to try cycling through QBs on rookie contracts so they can keep the rest of their roster loaded. It would be an interesting experiment. There is a trend where QBs get paid a ridiculous amount of money and their Super Bowl window immediately slams shut.

I am starting to think Mahomes has won his last one. Buffalo has about one more year before they have to start letting some of their good players walk. Cincinnati and the Chargers each have about a two year window right now before they have to pay Burrow and Herbert.

Been making this argument for a while now. Draft QBs all the time even if you have a young one.

Unless you get the apex (Mahomes, Watson, Allen, etc.) Just recycle them.
